Some Trophy Hunters go after a Leopard

Endangered?? You've been watching too many sunday morning celebs touting their agenda with mis-information. How many of your hard earned dollars have you sent to the World Wildlife Fund or Peta? If the animal was endangered there wouldn't be a tag available for it now would there? The game tags in Africa are available if there is enough of a huntable population of a particular species just as they are here at home. Not my type of hunting, I am not into trophy hunting per se but I have no problem with taking out predators if they are in huntable #'s. Yes it was a sad video to watch, sad that the first shot wasn't well placed and the animal had to suffer through the night, however when pursued it didn't fool around, it made itself known as to why they call it dangerous game.

X2. Somebody's been staring at pam's tit's:)

angrysoldier, "Spots" is anything but endangered. Over most of his range, he is doing better than ever, as socialist regimes ban sport hunting, and subsidize "agriculture", meaning a full meal at every turn.

Leopards are beautiful critters, ready made poster beasts for the likes of WWF and PETA. Second maybe only to pandas and baby seals in their heartstrings tug ratings. But endangered they ain't.

Seriously! A leopard was chewing on him! He kept fighting though and he was lucky one of his buddies didn't shoot him in all the excitement. How many people can say they survived a charge from a leopard where they were knocked to the ground? A lot more guys on this site have lost a poorly shot deer than will admit it... This animal almost killed a guy after spending the night with a pretty severe bullet wound and with a badly damaged leg.

sad very sad
piss poor hunting ethics and piss poor shot placement, maybe a better rifle for entend purpose. just gives more ammo for the anti's.
to bad it didn't get a better chunk of that guy before dieing.
sad

Leopards are all over in southern Africa. Not even close to endangered, hence why they're nto a CITES animal in RSA, Zim or Namibia. Not quite as common as coyotes over here, but they're in the suburbs in some cities.

Get educated on the subject before you declaim.

Those rifles they hunt leopards with confuse me. Why a two shot elephant gun?

The same reason you use 'em for elephants...second instantly-available shot with almost zero chance of FTF.

Some guys like a shotgun for the follow up on a wounded leopard but many think that makes no sense. At the range you're talking about the shotgun will do essentially the same job as the rifle but with less energy. Better to stick with what you have in yoru hands, carry every day, and shoot often when faced with a fast-unfolding situation like that.

I had no joy watching that.
Admired the cat more than the hunters.

Interesting. The video gave me great joy, and I admired both the cat for it's tenacity and the hunter's for their nerve. While a great game animal, or any game animal for that matter should not be intentionally wounded, this guy had the opportunity to demonstrate what a leopard is, and he didn't disappoint anyone. This is in contrast to the normal turn of events, when a leopard is successfully shot out of a tree from 30 yards against a bright sunset. After you spend a couple of hours of sitting motionless, in a hot airless blind, feeding tsetse flies, when the leopard appears, watching him climb the tree and approach the bait is exhilarating. That is the experience you pay for, but the shot is often anticlimactic. We set a leopard bait with a warthog carcass in a likely tree, but never got a strike on the bait. That too is part of hunting, even in a game rich area like the Selous.

i just dont like hunting endangered amnials. anything else is fine, but when there are so few left in the wild.

just my 2 cents

Some people have no clue yet they still spew crap out of there mouth!!! Unreal as leopards are no where near endangered, now go back to your peta forum and spew your crap there :jerkit:

Leopards Endangered?

Not sure where you got the info, probably directly related to some PETA propoganda somewhere. Leopards are currently at a population that can sustain a harvest.

Exciting dangerous game hunt. Sure, Chet screams like a girl - you would too with a leopard sinking its teeth into your chest. He keeps fighting though, kicking the animal off (even in short pants...lol). You have to admire the tracker, who is the only one that approaches the melee, and he's armed with a handmade axe! The finishing shot must have come very close to Chet's knee and foot.
Pucker factor of at least 8 out of 10.

Craig Boddington's daughter accidentally whacked her tracker while trying to shoot a leopard off him. Those situations unfold pretty quickly - glad it wasn't me there as I use a bigger rifle than Brittany. Poor tracker would have gotten it even worse!

If he stops hunting today he still might have a career in singing with Celine Dion. Too funny! Next time they better bring an RPG.
