Someone Please Explain To Me What This Is... (Pic)

Yeah, especially about the "not practical for civis" part. :stirthepot2:

We are almost to the point where there are TWO distinct classes where there was just one; "citizens" & "civilians", and god help us when it is no longer implied and is actually written into law.

uhh, im gonna play dumb here. whats the difference between the two to begin with? and besides how many civis have NV capable goggles or something and can hunt at night, and have an IR laser? IR lasers are not visible light so therefore you need a NV system to see them. not to many people have that much cash to drop just to hunt a few coons after sunset. i odnt know much about them like i said, and if it is indeed an IR laser, what real practical use is a civi gonna use it for anyways? have you ever been to a night shoot that required an IR laser? im not saying your wrong, i just dont see the practicality of any of it.

Not fake, they just use a haze/mist/smoke effect in the air to make the laser beam visible. Otherwise, those lasers would only project a red/green dot on surfaces without the aid of that special effect.

As a point in fact, no soldier or LE officer who uses laser sights would ever want their laser beam to be visible. It's already bad enough they have to point a light (the laser) at something, but to have a visible line leading directly back to you.... :slap:

It sure does! :D

For the same reasons is also why we get to see some amazing conflagrations by frag grenades in movies. All that fiery awesomeness makes a spectacular show. Is it real or practical? Nope. There are incendiary grenades, but they are rarely used outside of Hollywood or video games.

You'd figure the military would have caught on by now, and just ordered their grenades from the same place as the movie guys get theirs - I remember being quite disappointed seeing my first real grenade.

No kidding. I was so excited and giddy like a school girl:

Really that was it? Just a small puff of smoke.

Who knew my photo would generate so much discussion...

F22_Raptor got it right; it's a Laser Devices OTAL. And if anyone was wondering, the light is a Surefire M952V.

Off the orginal topic, but regards to real frag grenades very disappointing the first time. I even asked the MCpl if it was a dud. But it was not.

Unless its 5 feet in front of you when it goes off then your Extremly Dissapointed!:(
