They have the HK 416 as the SEAL firearm used for the Bin Laden escapade. They did not use a 10 inch version, according to my sources. Much of the TV Discovery Channel should be taken with a big grain of salt!

I managed to stick with the show until they aired one episode where they starting fussing over a buffer. They went on and on about how important the right buffer has to be, and how hard they are to make, and made it into this big mysterious magical object that only special people know how to make and if they didn't get it right they were so screwed.

They did this in a shop that made ARs, with all the parts on the back wall. Seriously, grab a couple of different buffers, run the gun and see what works if you ain't sure.

Drama. Dumb.

Another reality show with bad acting, there are times when they even try drama - just terrible f:P:

Exactly. If they would just make it more like a documentary with a different project each week with real facts on the build and why what works and what doesn't they'd probably get more people watching, even those not into guns but like seeing how things work.

Is that crap of a show still around? I thought the ATF f*cked them good over the "loss" of 10 firearms after an inspection.

The father and daughter lost their licences but one of the guys in the shop got the required licenses to keep the business going. Something like that.

Like most "reality shows" there isn't much real about them.

National Geographic channel has one called Family Guns starting tomorrow.

I'll check it out, but am preparing myself for disappointment once again.

I just watched the show with the SEAL sniper and HK416. The gunshop had to bling up a civilian semi auto version and a selective fire version (which came with an HK factory rep). The second story line was how the shop has bulks orders and production gunsmithing that pay to keep the doors open. It is better than pawnshops, storage lockers and tow trucks. And a whole lot less hillbilly than Duck Dynasty.

Hk 416 was used on the mission, and the 10.4 barrel was the model that was used to shoot UBL, but I'm pretty sure other variants were there also...You can get the civilian version of Tactical Imports in 14.5 or 16.5 barrel length..

As for the show who cares, it's a TV show....

I wasn't very impressed. All they did was cut down the barrel and slap a bunch of common, off the shelf components into it, which isn't really that special or interesting.

Duck Dynasty is a way better show.

I lost 10 points off my IQ watching the first 2 episodes of that crap....

Already 9 episodes in. http://www.1channel.ch/tv-2735009-Family-Guns Not a bad show, some drama, but it is more comical than anything. the British accent makes it more tolerable I think.. It revolves around more historic firearms and militaria, don't expect to be seeing much of anything modern here.

I watched the episode tonight. I think the pres of HK USA had a hard time taking these idiots for real.
I just hate how they make it seem like everything they do is so revolutionary. I had to laugh when they said they were going to "improve" the HK 416 "machine gun". Then they bark the barrel off in a bandsaw and some retard cleans it up on a lathe, they jam the tube back on, bolt on a bunch of commonly available stuff and BAM, Gamechanger! And they made a whole friggin episode out of it! 3 guys all attaching stuff on one gun, man what a farce. They must have assemble/disassembled that thing 20 times. Oh and nice "trigger job" too.

So much fail.

YC out.
