sound suppressors on non-firearm airguns legal ?

Fellas, there are certain firearms that are surprizingly quiet without a suppressor.
I once owned an English rook rifle. It was chambered in 360 #5 rook. I had it rechambered to 38 Special. Used the 148 grain lead full wadcutters and the usual about 3 grains of powder in this handload. (a good friend loaded these for me)
With the 26 inch barrel, it was quieter than a 22 LR chambered rifle.
So quiet, I once shot 5 rabbits in about two minutes all within a 30 yard area.
I should have kept it........silly me!

A suppressor, of any kind, is illegal all by itself.

Airsoft ones seem to be quite legal. And they would work just fine if installed on a rimfire rifle or pistol.

I read somewhere that a group of sportsmen launched a class action law suite against their gov't for hearing damage and actually won the right to have suppressors but I cant remember what country it was? mabey green land, or iceladn or something , ahh I'll have to go google it.

That was the UK.

Interestingly Canada is just about the only G8 nation that does not allow civilians to own suppressors. That either makes us superior to the rest of the civilized world or way behind the times. I'll let you decide which.
