Hey,

One of the shooters had some interesting issues pop up with his SP01 - I wonder if anyone else has seen/heard anything like that. Basically, while pushing a mag in, I guess he caught the flat metal "spring" in front of the hammer spring, and push it up so that it... FOLDED up into the mag well, on top of the mag being inserted. This, obviously, prevented the mag from going all the way in, and caused him to have to stop shooting the stage there. After pulling it out, making it straight again, re-inserting it back in place... it happened again! I believe a total of 3 times... He was not a happy camper.

Anyone seen anything like this? Just curious...

I've been keeping an eye on the CZ forum, and that sort of thing, and I think the CZ SP-01 is even more trouble prone than most CZ products.

I was thinking about switching to the SP-01, but I'm not anymore. K.H. has lots of problems with his. The only thing I care about in a gun is reliability.

Plus, CZ mags are really, really crappy. Those Tans look a lot nicer.

Ive heard of SP01 probs, but no one ever complained about 75 and 85 IIRC..
WHat are the typical 75 and 85 probs?

1. broken slide stops
2. ejection problems
3. mags suck ass!
4. reliability...

I can't see that happening on my sp01, he must have not put the parts back together properly when he has disassembled his sp01. I don't see the problem with CZ mags, if you really don't like them you can use baby eagle mags, but I haven't had any problem with the gun at all.

sounds like it is hit or miss, but the SP01 I saw being used worked 100%.
Although the 85 or 75(?) i have seen being used jammed all the time, yet others never jammed......?

I saw a Tangfolio 9mm stainless being used the other weekend, it worked 100% and was very accurate according to that shooter.

I guess it's really hit or miss then.

My 75 is around 6000 rds now, no hiccups to speak of.
Same scenario with another guy at our range. a 75 in 40S&W close to 15000 rds. Works flawlessly an the guy hardly ever cleans it..

i thought KH was die hard Glock man! hehe!!

His 17 is nearly a smoothbore by now, and it's on it's second slide. The gun is as old as most people think he is. I dare say he's due a new toy.

yeah...his should have over 60k rd through it...

damn, another switched from the dark side to the evil side! i maybe next...hehe!

A fellow IPSC shooter had a CZ TS have issues with slide/barrel he switched to STI and now Tangfolio.

My Tan shoould be here today! Have the "L" model coming. ONly bought it over the less expensive SP-01 because it is legal in both IDPA and IPSC Production.

My CZ 85 has been outstanding and has over 5,000 rds through it at least. Never had a mag problem though the older Pre B guns have to have the mag well worked on for the new mags to drop freely. Mine was made in '88 and I still haven't got the mag well right yet but my dremel and I will figure it out eventually. LOL

Will do a range report once it is in my hands,

Gunar at Armco mentioned to me that he felt that the dual slide release on the CZ-85's were a weak point and prefered the single side release design of the NZ-85b.

The mags don't seem to be much different than the Sig ones I have, mind you I had more problems with my Sig mags than I have had with my Norinco mags.

Colin I have an 85 made in 1988. The dual slide release is a non-issue. Nary a problem with it. I am the third owner of the gun, brother carried it for a number of years. Think Gunnar was trying to sellyou a NZ 85. Very good gun and CZ's I don't think have anymore or less problems then any other pistol. Mechanical devices do fail from time to time but you would expect that.

While my Hi-Powers are ###ier if I had to take one to a gun fight the CZ would be the gun I took. Better trigger would be the deciding factor in the CZ

Is Tanfoglio that much batter than CZ, even though it's a copy of it?
Then how does it compare to HP in terms of design of the handgun? Which of these three are definite winner?

IMHO Tanfoglio is a better overall finish.
