That’s what I have too. Is there any reason I couldn’t flatten the gas tube and roll it a turn or two then pin it back in place upside down?

Why damage your current set-up? There is a two-year window for this stupidity to play out, so why not relax, get your LPC receiver set and find some AR parts that don't have to be permanently altered?
I want to try converting an NEA 10.5" AR to see how it will work out. I don't want to alter a more costly rifle if it turns out that I don't have to, or that I don't like the LPC. (I think that I will like the LPC)

A gas tube extends into the AR upper receiver. Couldn't be installed in the LPC receiver.
A little solid peg could replace the gas tube, and be pinned in place to close off the hole where the gas tube was.
