Thought someone may be interested in the velocities of some 22 rimfire ammunition.
We tested a few types with a Chrony and here are the results. All are groups of five, shot with a Brno #6 rifle.
First, some old Dominion brand of CIL, long rifle.
Average 1186 fps, with an es of 28.
CCI Blazer, 1222 fps, with es of 55.
CCI standard velocity, 1055, with es of 46.
Older Winchester shorts, marked "High Velocity," with 29 grain bullet, 1149 fps, es of 85.
CCI CB shorts, 1093, es of 52.
And now, here comes the CCI Stinger long rifle.
Average 1620 fps, with an es of 13!
I think this is sort of ho hum information, except I was surprised by the CCI Stinger. It didn't give the bullet weight on the box, but the bullet looked every bit as large as 40 grain regular long rifle bullets. I didn't think they went that fast and were so even in velocity.
