Can anyone tell me which they think is better? Right now the speedsecs or $109 US on their site versus $160 US if that is any consolation....

Thanks!

CR Speed is 135 USD on the IPSC store, JR is 180 Canadian at Freedom Ventures. It's cheaper to get CR Speed from the IPSC store. I have a CZ Tactical Sport which is just the newer version of the 75B IPSC Standard model.

I wouldn't consider the Speedsec holster just because they are too gun specific. You need on for one gun and another one for a different style.

Will this work on my CZ IPSC then?

I think this is an old model before the WSM and the WSM II. The IPSC store seems to sell the WSM. I have an HK too, so that would be cool if I could use one for two guns... This one is cheaper too, although I don't know what has changed or has been improved since the WSM and WSM II were released.

Can anyone tell me what improvements were made to the JR knockoff that makes it better than the CR? Personally, I like the fact that you can walk around with the Speedsec locked and it doesn't really do much to effect your draw time if you decide to use it locked all the time. I have heard many stories of guns falling out of CRs.

What about the Ghost??

well you can lock the CR as well. once it is lock i doubt if a gun could fall out of it. with the lock on you can still draw the gun out of a CR but it does take one hell of a pull!

i understand the old ghosts had a bit of a problem with guns falling out but the new ones have fixed that problem.

Like the Speedsec (originally LIMcat) design, the locking mechanism on the JR is on the inside, so if you lock the holster (intentionally for a retention test or unintentionally - brain fade between "hot" stages) , it can unlocked on the draw. I can't tell the difference in drawing with the gun locked or not.

It comes with the post on the end of the holster, as opposed to the cup. Almost everyone that gets the other holster immediately orders Arredondo's post, which has a SRP of $40 US.

It has a tension adjustment on the inside of the holster. This allows you when unlocked to determine how much you want the resistance to be on the draw.

$180 is a Suggested Retail Price. My Dealers (of which anyone with a dealer license is) may sell for less.

Note that the barrel cup of the CR Speed "Versa" version is quite narrow, it will not fit the IPSC Standard until you cut out some plastic on the sides, or just get a bigger cup.

There is a muzzle cup specifically for the CZ. Franco can easily hook you up. CR now comes standard with the muzzle plug. I am using the CR for the last 3 years, love it, but am looking hard at a JR for my Standard gun.

I was just exchanging emails with JR for another shipment when he pointed out that the materials used in the other guys locking system are not durable compare to JRs, which last for a long time because it is made of high quality polymer.

In the Philippines, those that use that other holster complained about the durability of their locking system because as they frequently draw, the lock becomes weak and lost because of continuous scratching. It is also the reason why most of the other guys users drop their gun during a holster test.
