Speer

The problem with Speer bullets for quite a while now has been the lack of stores selling a decent selection of them.
Personally I shoot the 270 grain HC in a 9.3x62 and the 160 grain GS in the wife's 7x57.

Also having a consistent product. The Trophy Bonded Bear Claws were good pills, discontinued. Grand slams were the poor man's partition with a harder lead core base and softer lead nose, worked very well, now they use a single soft lead core. Deepcurl was a bonded pill but made using a plating method, also discontinued. I think they quit making Hotcores too now.

Hi - anyone obtained and shot any of the New SPEER Impact 6.5 cal or 30 cal bullets Yet ? if so Results ? RJ

I am always interested in bonded bullets and for some reason have the necessity to try new stuff when it shows up. Accubond is the baseline here. And yes if I had an abundance of Speers you bet I'd shoot them

Speaking of new, I developed a load for the Federal Trophy Bonded bullet, which to my understanding, is a derivative of the Bear Claws. Didn't harvest a deer last year due to a nasty break in my right leg the night before white tail season started...still a little upset about being absent from the annual hunting trip.

Hitzy...I would like to have tried those yesteryear Grand Slams. I really can't gage if the new ones are comparable in performance.

I've got some Speer flat bottoms loaded for development in my 303 br. waiting to be tested. I liked the Sierra's for all things but hunting because they work well for me, but over the last year the price per box has seemed to have creeped up by 8 or so dollars for the stuff I am interested in. I've started to look at other options for range time and to develop my load development skills.

The 303 cal bullets from speer that I have weighed and measured are really consistent, A LOT better than the Campros. If they shoot between the Campro and the Sierra, for the price in this old gun...I will be satisfied.

I saw on one of the site sponsors site Federal Fusion bullets as components for the first time. Those worked well on game and were accurate in a factory offering, before I started reloading. And the price is more acceptable for trigger time at the range and with these I wouldn't hesitate to use on deer sized game.

Perhaps I am the anomaly but I think availability and pricing of Speer/Federal brand bullets is becoming more accessable these days...and becoming an option to consider. No disrespect Tod, I think there is some progressive thinking or "marketing" going on there and for myself, I'm listening a little bit...or at least my wallet is.

Speer bullets are reasonably priced, accurate, and very effective on game. too bad they are hard to find on the shelf in Canada.

Ive used Speer bullets for conventional hunting ranges with great results. Haven't had one fail on me. Used 8MM 150gr, 170gr, and 200gr on deer and bear. Trying some in my 7mm. IMO they are the best bang for your buck. 100CT of 8mm 150 gr for 32$ , 270gr 9.3mm for about 25$ CT.50, 7mm 145 gr 100 ct. for 30$. Cant get much better than that.

The 190 gr 30cal impact peaks my interest. Looks like sleek bullet, looking forward on trying some soon.

If the impacts are offered in 7mm I will be doing my best to track them down, if they shoot I may stock up.
Speer may have fallen from favor but they still offer very useful bullets. Golddots seem identical to Fusions at least in the .224 offerings and I am fond of their performance.

I load the tipped trophy bonded bear claws in my 300wm and 170gr hot cors in my buddies 32win. The hotcor gave perfect terminal performance on the bear he shot. Ive yet to find the perfect load with the ttbbc as i moved the scope off the rifle and havent had time to get back at it

I think speer bullets are great for their intended uses and hope to play more with the hotcors in every caliber i can especially two upcoming projects in 375 and 416

Bump. Looking for a dealer who could get the new Speer bullets.
Looking for Speer Gold Dot Rifle Bullets 300 AAC Blackout (308 Diameter) 150 Grain Bonded Soft Point Box of 50. Manufacturer #: 308150BLKGDB and would rather go with a Canadian company rather than deal with an American export company.
