Looking for other options than VGC. The course is getting a little repetitive. Any where else close enough to Vancouver for a day trip??

Parkesville-Qualicum Fish & Game club holds a shoot every 3rd saturday of the month
check our website
lots of other shoots as well Gabriola Island, Courtney etc
check out the Vancouver Island Shooting League website they should be listed there.

If you are willing to get an ATF form. You can shoot in Washington. They have good shoots and challenging courses. Check the following website: http://mywsca.com/. The closest of the sporting clays club is in Granite Falls.

Sporting Clays facility, Coquihalla Hwy...

Can-Am, if you are referring to the commercial one near the Lac LeJuene exit, I went looking for that one in the summer of 2003. It was 'gone' then, replaced by some sort of archery facility ( club or what ?) Nearest S.C. shoots are at the Kamloops Trap Club.

Mission has a very good one, light years better than VGC. I have friends who are members and have only been once. It's kind of hard to get a round together though, there's no regular scheduled time like at VGC. You have to go to the clubhouse, they have to find a trap operator, then finally you head out.

Unfortunately the fella that was backing that venture passed away at a all too young age and the interest for the project was lost.

The last time I was at the Mission Rod and Gun club, I was told that they are done with the sporting clays course. They have decided to set up a 5 stand course instead. It used to be a very good course at one point.

Or you could go early on a Sunday morning and help to set the course? That way people can blame you for the set up. I used to help when I worked in Richmond. You get to know everyone that way.
Good luck or get in the truck. Lots of courses on this side of the Rockies.

Hi LFM,
Just like NZClaybuster said why don't you help with the setup of the course?
I know they would welcome any help offered. Be part of the solution. Get
active within your club.
I believe a 5 Stand is also in works for Vancouver Gun Club to open some time
late March or April.

Hi
well other then Vancouver gun club their is no other sporting clays other then going to the Vancouver island or to Alberta.
Mission had one now its closed and their getting a 5 stand. so mission will only have 5 stand.
At the Vancouver Gun Club their always looking for extra help to get the place ready for Sundays.
And with the 5 stand cumming along their is be more different tips of shootings.

With the 5 stand and sporting clays will be open doring the weekend shooters can change it up as one weekend dooing sporting the other 5 stand or do both.

Kamloops has a very good sporting clays set up and is a little closer than AB. I'm not entirely sure, but I think there are 32 sites now. There is every kind of challenge a guy could be looking for, and maybe a few he isn't :). We just had a 100 bird match last Saturday. Practices are on Sunday at this time of year. The Sporting Clay Challenge is on June 25, 26 & 27 this year. It begins with a 100 bird prelim and is followed by a 300 bird match. The club also has 5 stand, skeet and trap singles and doubles.

VGC doesn't really encourage the younger generation to do anything at the club but pay for your clays, shut up, shoot then go home...repeat. (with exception of a few incredible members that is) It's not so much the course that is the problem. I was just looking for a change in scenery and to try different environments that could facilitate different targets. Landscape has a lot to do with how the course it set up. VGC is limited with its terrain. I'm not knocking the people who set up the course. I always have a great time and I do greatly appreciate the efforts put in by the course prep guys. Also can't beat the fact it's 20 minutes from my house. I will def look into Kamloops course this spring/summer. Thanks for the info.

I'm sorry you feel that you have to pay, shut up, and shoot. Then repeat it
every time you go to the club. I have seen many young men and women
coming to the club smiling and laughing. My boys shoot at the club any
time they needed help more than one person would step up.

I know how you feel about wanting to shoot a different course just to mix
things up. I too will be trying other clubs facilities.

Good luck have fun. Let us know how your shoot goes in Kamloops.

We put on a sporting clays weekend shoot twice here in Pemberton, a few years back. It was on the river and I think most had a good time.

We weren't able to keep doing it on that property, but there is always a bit of talk about getting a weekend event going at our new range. I think we would need lots more machines, though. Presently we only have a couple of manual sit on launchers and the 2 electric ones for the trap houses.

Scenery would be hard to beat. I was up there today for a meeting and between the sun, the mountains and the river below, it's like shooting paradise.:)

But liek all events like this, the talking is the easy part. Stay tuned.....:p

Gatehouse, you guys had the ultimate place for SC on the river,I made that my shoot to go to,shoot, stay at a B&b,enjoy a bit of god's country, great targets, greater people,we even hauled machines up from VGC just to shoot that place
