I want to hunt black bear this spring.i never have before.i am an avid hunter but i have only hunt around here.i am fine guiding my self but i have no idea were to go.i have a good atv but prefer to hunt by foot.I am not interested in baiting.I am not looking for exact location but just a general location.or if anyone is interested in letting me tag along I would be willing to trade a hunt or pay cash for a good area, depending on the legality of that.I can't aford a guided hunt.I am just looking to get into hunting other animals.I don't know if I will have time off it all depends on spring as I am a rig worker.but I have always wanted to hunt bear.with work and my home life I have a hard time just jumping in the truck and driving 4 hours in hopes of finding a spot.any help anyone can give me would definatly be appreciated.even if the directions are as wide as a county.thanx you in advance.

Here we hunt the river banks and sometimes follow the tracks into the woods, depends on how you feel. There is a slough I found last year moose hunting that looks very promising for spring bear, so I am going to check that out.

...binnoculars
...cutlines and pipelines
...pull trigger

Hey impala, Win70 has it pretty close, except for the charge part.
As for the foothills suggestion, probably your best bet; head out towrds Nordegg and have at 'er. I would suggest heading North towards Cold Lake or there about, but it would probably be just as far for you, but would have fewer people and no grizzlies (add back in the charge part).

Have fun.

Hey impala, I am from heisler. I go up buy Wandering river towards Fort Mac. It is about a 3 hr drive. Last time I was there( 2005) we seen 20 bears between 4 of us. We were baiting also.

Or you could gimme a shout and I know of a baiting service SE of Ft. Mac that would accomodate you like no other.........if you wanted to still hunt in the area that might work for you.
