2 am in the morning. this is gonna be short and straight forward .

i picked up this Brazil made 1911 stainless GI couple weeks ago. brand new gun and it came with a newbie scratch below the slide release, im like ok, it could be a display model. people might have toyed with it . i racked the slide back, and i see brass mark in the chamber. well ok, maybe it's been test fired from the factory. i striped the gun. ran an oiled cloth thru the barrel and the cloth came out black. at that point it accrues to me that my brand new gun might not be brand new. but guns are meant to be used. so all the scratches here and there, and the fact that the gun was shipped to me used and dirty didnt bother me too much.

now the fun part. i took my 1911 to the range along with 150 rounds of reload led rounds and 50 factory FMJ. the 5th round of the first clip had a jam. i thought maybe the gun just need a little brake in period. 2nd clip , one jam, 3rd clip, jammed again and i stopped tracking after that. i've had about 15-20 jams with those led bullets that's about 1 in 10 shots were jams. they were all failure to ejects. the gun feeds beautifully , but the shells just werent flying out of the port. i first thought it was my grip but i rule that out after i review my own shooting videos, my grip is firm and i've never had any jamming issues with any other guns (except my M213 , it only had one firing mode = Jamomatic). later that day i had a feeling that the gun might once had been returned because of this issue which explains the brass marks and a dirty barrel, AND a ####ing newbie scratch .

so, i took it to a gun smith today, and he discovered that the extractor is 2mm too long. he told me that it should never had left the factory like that. the extractor was also bent because the bodies of the shells were beating on it shot after shot. now i have to pay 80 for fitting in a new extractor.it's almost 1/10th of the price of this gun. moral of the story. buy an american brand american made 1911, or a Norc 1911- low expectations out of the box , you dont feel as bad if it fails ;)

Sad story, but I replaced my exstractor all by myself, went right in and no problems, works perfectly all the time. Yes i have a Norc 1911, and I replaced it with a North American made one, not that the orignal was not working, but after 3000 rounds figured I should replace some parts. i would get a signed statement from the gunsmith and take the gun back to the store you brought it from and have them replace it for selling a defective gun. Here is a sight you may like, its called Blindhogg. or is it blindehogg. Its a sight on self repairs on 1911s. This guy works on nothing but 1911s. Check it out, he has great pics and written discripitions on how to do a lot of things.

It is blindhogg and the site is fantastic. lots of good information there. I googled it and it comes right up.

I had the exact same model. It was beautiful.... It was a jammo-matic. Stovepipes, slide partially forward misfeeds, weird ejections and a brutal trigger on top of that. It was soon sent to Armco as a trade on a Kimber and he sorted it out and sold it to someone else. Lessons learned: they are nice to look at (Imbel)non-Springfield Springfields that are too much money for the end product. It is worth the extra for a US built Springfield. My $300 Norc was even better than the GI.

i could have done it. but the gun smith gave me alot of advice and spent 30 minutes looked over my gun for me so i couldnt just walk out on him . its 40 for the part 40 for fitting. so it wasnt too bad.

I enjoy shooting my Springfield XD so it was natural to want another Springfield when I was shopping for a 1911 .45ACP. After examining several brands (& price ranges) it came down to either a Brazilian made Springfield 1911 or the Norinco 1911. I chose the Norc. When I'm ready to get another 1911 (damn things are addictive) maybe it'll be a US made Springfield.

I have the exact same thing and it also came with an idiot scratch straigth from the factory and the brass marks as yours did. I was also having the same issues and in fact the extractor finally did break. We noticed (gunsmith and myself) that the extractor is chrome plated and makes it weak. No extractor should be chrome plated. I simply replaced it with an aftermarket extractor and the problem was solved. I too was pissed but what can you do. Dealing with manufactures is sometimes more of a pain in the ass.
