I'm in the market for a new pistol and was wondering if any of you gents have had any experience(s) with this particular make and model either in .45 ACP or 9mm. Your feedback is greatly appreciated

The 45 is GAP not ACP, same cartridge, same ballistics, same everything
apparently. Just a shorter case to accomodate the smaller framed guns.
I have the XD40, will be picking up the 9mm conversion and 45GAP conversion
down the line. You won't be disappointed. Good accuracy out to
200 Yards.

Thanks PM, I meant GAP, but staring at the empty ACP casings on my bench gave me a brain fart. Not only that but I was actually thinking about 40 S&W or 9mm:redface: Thanks for the info. Right now it boils down to the XD, or a Beretta 92 or 96 series in 9mm.

Hey Richard, don't :D me you bastard. LOL

Hey considering how things are going up here.... mind if a few hundred CGN'ers come crash/squat on your property?

Nine, I am so old that I remember what Canada was like before Socialism! I loved spending my summers and holidays with my aunts/uncles and cousins. Alas, poor Yorrick, no more. I still like seeing my cousins but I doubt I could live in Canada because of the repressive firearms laws. Regards, Richard:(

The XD line is easy to recommend.. handles well, decent (for a tupperware
gun) trigger, easy to upgrade sights (uses the Sig pattern), good (combat)
accuracy... reasonable price.
The mags are also way easier to get the last (10th) round in, than say a Glock...
Get one, you won't be disappointed!:D

Make sure you do your research on which initial calibre
you purchase. From what i've gathered you cannot
convert the 9MM model. You can convert all the others
up or down.

I had a chance to shoot a variety of the modern battle pistols side by side and ended up with the XD. If you can, see what fits you hand the best. With the exception of the Sigs and 1911, most have a pretty spongy trigger. I found the XD to be better then the glocks and fit my hand a lot better then any other pistol short of the 1911.

Most any modern pistol is accurate for its intended tasks but I like the fully supported chamber of the XD for reloading. I went with a 40 and really like this cal. I can shoot cast bullets without a lot of hassles that say a Glock would have. I can change to a 9mm barrel if I want to.

The 45 chores are with a 1911. Personally, both the 40 and 45 shoot about the same for recoil. I like the no brainer mechanicals of the XD over the 1911. Way easier and faster to strip to clean.

www.xdtalk.com THE forum for all things XD. Great resource. Don't get thrown off by the HS2000 references. That's the original name for the XD before Springfield took over North American Distribution of them and the name they go by in the rest of the world.

For the price, I don't think you can get a better gun anywhere.

Emailed JR earlier and got a price etc. Am going to order one tomorrow morning in 40 cal and get a 9mm barrel later. The XDtalk forum looks great and there seems to be a wealth of info. I gotta thank you guys for your input and if it fits my hand as well as my 1911 so much the better.

The conversion kit is made by EFK Firedragon, $150usd,
distributed by pistolgear.com Scott will ship to Canada,
and is a very good guy.
