Springfield Armory XD Tactical

I have a 9mm barrel that I use in my 40. Works quite well but is not 100% reliable so far, I'm still experimenting with ammo, springs, and mags.

I have owned an XD9 for about 2 years now and probably have just shy of 10 thousand rounds through it. I love this pistol...very nice shooting

I have had one hitch, the locking block is developing a small crack in it, but this is due to stress points in the early design of it...which I have. The issue was fixed...to find out, you will see "rounded-out" corners between the front rails where the guide rod butts up against the locking block. Replaced the stock spring with a 22 # one and that is all I have done.

Overall, I would recommend this pistol as very reliable and of good quality.

One thing I have never figured out. Why do people refer to politicians as the "honourable" so and so?

The 9mm, .357SIG, and 40S&W mags are interchangable. Sometimes.
The 9mm's may not feed correctly. I'll let you know when I get my
new barell. EFK's out of stock :(

So what do you guys figure, 40cal or 9mm? I have a 9mm barrel for mine but sometimes think I should have got the 9mm just cause it's cheaper and why do I need 40. As long as the 9mm shoots as well as the 40 I was thinking of selling my 40 for the 9mm version. Any thoughts?

Where did you get that price? I'm thinking of getting one myself.

That price was an introductory offer when they first came out. I came back the next day, and the price was up. I think that was a promotion to get them in circulation! ANyway, they are an awesome gun. I think they sell for $800 new now.

I've owned, shot and enjoyed my XD40 Tactical for a couple of years now. Last thursday morning, while still fuming over Pimpim's latest "announcement", I decided to go downtown and buy that new XD9 I wanted. With any luck, I should have it home in a few days and out to the range. I'll let you know how it shoots compared to my XD40. :)

1) If you remember, the .40 was the first out of the blocks by around 6 - 9 months (?? I think -but was definitely out first)

2) I originally bought mine to compete in IPSC, So that whole major / minor thing. - no time for that these days...

3) I don't think there is any real cost savings when comparing hand loading in both calibers. (o.k. - you could squeeze the beaver 'til it ####s, but who does that?)

4) Cops (most) don't pick up their brass. -Tons of once fired .40 brass. Everywhere.

5) Loading light loads gives next to nil recoil. Lighter than 9mm, and still cycles the action reliably.

6) Having handguns in multiple calibers is a good thing. There is little fun in having a whack full of pistols, all in arguably the best cartridge going -9mm (YAWN)

7) The XD40 is just damn ###y.

:D

Dropped in at TSE yesterday and burn't through a pile of 40 in the XD and the PC4GR. They are fun... the PC4 is a blast to, hand not really tried it out other than to make sure it fired before now. I shoot quite bit of 9mm in the XD40 as well with the converison barrel. It is fun for plinking but not reliable enough to compete with. About one in 30 or so of the 9mm rounds would just sit in the chamber after firing. Accuracy with the 9mm barrel is good but he point of impact shifts to the right a bit.

I just picked up my new XD9 to join my XD40 that I've had for a couple of years. I noticed right away that the trigger on the XD9 is DIFFERENT to the trigger on my XD40 that I purchased before the XD9's arrived in Canada. The little 'safety' lever on the XD9 sticks out of the trigger about twice as much as on my XD40, and is a completely different shape where it joins the internals of the gun. The safety lever's return spring is also visible on the XD9, whereas it is not on my XD40. Is this unique to the XD9, or is this an 'assembly line change' on all XD's? If anyone has an XD40 that they purchased recently, I'd be interested to know which safety lever it has installed.
