Just acquired a Springfield/Savage 67E 12 guage with a 30" barrel for cheap. I bought it with the knowledge that it needs some TLC. The main issue is that when the fore end is pumped forwards the bolt does not lock unless you hold the slide lock release down. If you do not hold it down the bolt will not lock. The previous owner and I think that it is the slide lock release spring causing the issue. Thoughts?

Any idea what choke this barrel would have?

Well, I've got good news and weird news.

Your gun was made in 1975 but for some reason only the model 30's were catalogued that year and the 67's aren't even listed.

The good news is that all the 410 shotguns are choked full that year.

Were the 30's only chambered in .410? That is a bit of a mystery and I'm not sure what to make of that. I guess I will just have to pattern it and see what I come up with. It does have 3" chamber, not sure if that changes anything.

I'm not following, looky.

Seems this thing is going to throw more curve balls at me, it seems to have different internals than the 67 parts diagrams I have seen:

Is that a gob of weld splatter on the opposite side of the trigger flat?
I guess if you were aiming that gal, it would be top left side of that pinned link.

It looks like weld splatter but it's where part of the trigger body for lack of a better term, is worn away from the slide lock release mechanism rubbing against it. If you go and look at the parts diagram and compare it to this it shows some interesting differences. I also think the piece of spring steel that you can see in a couple photos(not the spring that is curved and directly attached to the slide lock release lever) is suppose to be straight and not bent in a little "v" like it is.

Notice how the cutout for the slide lock release is at the rear of the trigger group and not above/in front of the trigger?

The slide lock release lever is different too as it isn't a two part mechanism like in the diagrams I have seen. Here is a photo of it:

Okay, thanks for the help but my shotgun is not a 410 it's a 12 gauge.

Oh....well that was a brain fart huh? Not sure why I thought it was a 410.

Alright, 12 ga. If it's a 30" bbl it's a full choke. If it's a 28" barrel it could be either full or modified. Can you see any asterisks on the gun or barrel anywhere (*)?

Lol it's all good. :)

It is a 30" barrel so it's full. There is no asterisk but there is a V, another symbol I can't really make out and an oval with a SP inside it. All these markings are on the top side of the barrel very close to the receiver.

Well, I ordered the spring from Western Gun Parts. Also ordered a new roll pin and trigger guard screw as they were both banged up pretty good. So we will see how long they take to get down here.
