Squirrel ammo?

It's not the ammo choice, it's shot placement that's key. But they are tough and strong-willed. I take them regularly with a high-power .177 pellet out to 35 yards with head shots. But I'm scoped for their tiny kill zone.

I have taken squirrels with Benji HB-20 pellet pistols and blowguns to off the deck railing too... but try that when you are forced to take a 75 yard shot at a squirrel bobbing in the top of a beech tree... already conceded that anything works if it is squarely struck in the head... but if you are off even a little, then an HM2 or LR with HP's can make all the difference between wounding/loosing & killing/recovering... and all of my squirrel rifles are scoped.

I've taken them with a .22 pellet gun with wadcutters with 100% success. The wadcutter cuts a nice round hole through the vitals. Crosman premier HP didn't expand as I had expected and one got away only to succumb to a CCI SV .22 to the head the next year (recovered Crosman HP under skin on squirrel). Have since sold the pellet gun and use the CCI SV exclusively, works well either to the head or in the vitals.
