I know currently this is a prohibited item for import but why?

If the weapon is still greater than 26" why shouldn't it be permitted

I have a file opened with the RCMP to try and get them to allow it and still waiting for a reasponse.

When the TAR-21 and FN PS90 are permitted then why not a conversion?
 
Any ad-on bullpups are prohibited, if they're manufactured bullpups they're fine.

Don't try and make sence of Canadian firearm law... Nothing makes sence
 
I have to admit, having access to some really nice toys but not allowed to own any of them is very frustrating to me. Being the lawful citizen and keep things on the up and up is difficult with such really cool items out there.

I am very interested in the bullpup for a couple of my guns, but want to stay on the right side of the law.
 
Living down south has certain advantages, we experience short winters
with little snow and we are allowed to own bullpup conversions :dancingbanana:

After watching the recent video of that Garand KABOOM, I don't know if I like the idea of resting my face next to the area that went KABOOM.
 
It has been well documented that bullpup conversions in Canadian hands are so frightening it would cause the coca cola polar bears to piss themselves to death. Hence you may not have one.
 
I now have to wait to monday to find out the response from the RCMP. As the firearm will still be 30" long once complete. I have also asked them if it is imported from the US with the bullpup (hence registered as a bullpup M14) if this is also acceptable.

They need actual gun owners to work in the firearms center....

Have you read the actual law relating to bullpup stocks in this country?

Yes I have, you can't call and ask questions of the Firearms Centre unless your informed. I want a bullpup similar to the TAR-21 without the cost in a higher caliber for either my M14 or and SGWorks stock for my SKS.

PROHIBITED DEVICES

Former Prohibited Weapons Order, No. 9
1. Any electrical or mechanical device that is designed or adapted to operate the trigger mechanism of a semi-automatic firearm for the purpose of causing the firearm to discharge cartridges in rapid succession.

2. Any rifle, shotgun or carbine stock of the type known as the “bull-pup” design, being a stock that, when combined with a firearm, reduces the overall length of the firearm such that a substantial part of the reloading action or the magazine-well is located behind the trigger of the firearm when it is held in the normal firing position.
 
I've had my M14 bullpup conversion for a little over 6 months now and I'm glad I have it.
It's compact & cool, but if I were forced to choose between my bullpup and my EBRs the bullpup would be gone.

But you currently have a choice, us north of the border don't. Unless you want to meet at a gunshow in the US and sell it... :nest:
