STAG-10 In the Wild!

Outstanding!

Here's everything that's not OEM/standard:

Hipfire Eclipse Trigger
MI 15" Handguard
SLR Titanium adjustable gas block
MRA pencil stainless match barrel 18.6", brake (forgot the name)
Brownells Titanium BCG
Magpul UBR2 Stock and BUISes

The stock ain't the lightest, I know.. but I like the UBR :)

The next step would be to find a titanium brake device (like the above post - where'd you get that? :) , that's also shorter, to save on that barrel-end weight (and feel)).

I also think it's be said again and again, the biggest weight savings (real and perceived recoil) is to lighten the BCG, get an ajustable gas block first, then move on to a lighter hanguard/barrel :)

Are you using the spacer provided with the UBR? Have you had any issues with function / cycling?

Did you weight your MRA barrel before install? My experience has been they are heavier than they advertise.

I weighed mine before installation and it was exactly 2 lbs 8 oz, as advertised. There's also photos of them weighing both the SPR and the pencil barrel on a scale.

No... i guess i should have!

uh, i'm not sure I did... will have to look in the box to see if it's still there.

Also, this is what the setup looks like, the only thing missing from the pic is part that sits between the stock and receiver (post 309 below):

(the ruler is flush with both the spring/buffer.. camera parallax makes it look different)

Hey guys, new to AR-10 platform would like your input on the following:
The upper receiver is a DPMS high profile and the handguard is Low Profile.
Usually the handguard should be a high profile LR-308 for it to allign properly with the top of the receiver?
Can we use any low profile LR-308 handguard on the stag10?

Don't quote me on if, but I think it is supposed to be a high profile, but if you use a low profile you can add a riser to make up for the difference in spots

Stag 10 is "DPMS High"... not sure how that would work out with "low"... it would probably physically fit around the barrel, but would have a 'step' between the upper rail and the handguard rail.

This is what a 5sec google search turned up for "dpms high upper dpms low handguard".. Besides that step, i don't think anything else would matter much.

Trust me i did my google search very well, if you just check their website on the stag 10 comple rifle, you will see:
Upper features a .210 Tang Height (DPMS High Profile)
Handguard: 15" Low Profile LEV2 Free Float Handguard

I got the upper/lower set and planning on the parts i wanna buy thats why i got lost

Aye,

so I don't think there's nothing on a dpms low handguard that would physically stop it from working on a stag.. you'll have that 'step' then. As jmichelin84 stated, you can use risers if required.

A couple of us can confirm that the stag (bare) receivers are indeed DPMS high.

This is the MI handguard i have on mine: https://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/product-p/mi-308ss15-dhm.htm

I agree it's confusing, they're not talking about the same "profile".
In the handguard description they mean it's more slim-sleek-###y than the previous handguard. But both rails are DPMS high profile.

Ah, I see now... yeah they could have used a better word for that new(ish) thing.

I think you HAVE to with the UBR? I used it on mine (gen 2)...I just installed it so far, not fired it yet but I can cycle the bolt all the way back and have it lock open with the spacer installed.

Yeah, since the tube is actually an A5 length and the stag comes with carbine length buffer / spring I'm using it as well – however wanted confirmation from some other folks that the rifle cycles fine with the Gen 2 + spacer since I'm trying to diagnose a few issues I'm having.

I ordered the upper and lower complete,
But i am starting to chicken out on a build.
mainly because i will loose lifetime warranty from Stag

Does anyone know what the warranty would be on a barrel
from Maple Ridge Armoury?
