Stag AR Troubles

I had the same issue when I fired my Stag rifle for the first time. I was firing hollow point ammo and frequently the flat tips wouldn't allow it to feed the ammo without the rounds getting caught up and jamming. When I changed to regular ball ammo I never had anymore feed problems. Now that is all I use in my rifle.

Are the rounds you are using crimped? I had the same problem with Remington 55 grns 223 rounds (at least in the case of my STAG). It does not have enough crimp around it that when the bolt pushes the round for battery it is causing the projectile to go inside the brass. NOT a good idea!!!!! My STAG does not work well on hallow point as well. Have you try another brand. You'll be surprise if you try some other brand and make.
Just my 2-cent of opinion base on my STAG experience.

I had the same problem with my ar. The mags weren't sitting quite right, too much play. When the bolt came forward, the round would miss the "ramp" slightly, and the nose would push into the casing. I started "slapping" the mags from the underside when I popped them in and the problem seemed to disappear. They were cp products mags, and the steel seemed slightly thinner gauge than others. Maybe you've got a similar prob?

I just received my Stag Arms model R1 from Armseast. Went to the range today, went through about 60 rounds. Quite frequently I'm have an issue where I'll fire a shot and then the bolt jams against the round so hard that the bullet gets pushed back into the case, thus jamming the rifle. Any ideas????

i had that issue using winchester varmit (40 round value pack) ammo, it was getting hung up in the feed ramps.

i switched to a FMJ (american eagle) and havent seen the issue since

I just got my Stag 1R yesterday as well, pumped 130 rounds thru it no problems at all..Great rifle... I did run a boresnake thru it and wiped off all excessive oil before firing..could be the ammo or a mag problem.

If you use the cheap, non-crimped "varmint" rifle ammo packs from Winchester or Remington, you will continue to see bullet setback into the case, as well as jams and double feeds. It is the ammo, not the rifle. I own a number of different brands of AR and none of them will feed that stuff reliably, including Colt, LMT, STAG, etc... Buy some decent crimped FMJ, surplus 5.56 or reload and your problem will disappear.

I had the exact same problem and the EXACT same fix (slapping the mags) when shooting my dad's Stag with C-Products mags. I wondered if it was a mag issue, but did not have any other mags on hand to try out.
