Before the Gun Ban did the AR-10 have a certain barrel length which made it non-restricted.
restricted firearm means
(b) a firearm that
(i) is not a prohibited firearm,
(ii) has a barrel less than 470 mm in length, and
(iii) is capable of discharging centre-fire ammunition in a semi-automatic manner,
The kicker is...... the Stag-10 was approved NR during the Liberals majority government..... then they turned around and suddenly claim it as an AR variant and banned it by name.
It is my firm belief that the liberals collaborated with individuals at the rcmp run firearms lab and allowed the approval of 100,000's of thousands if not millions of dollars of new firearms deemed NR by the lab , during Trudeau's majority. Only to be banned later and the banning used as a tool to bankrupt and financially ruin both gun owners and the businesses that serve them.
I don't think you're too far off with your belief. There was a lot of NR approvals under this regime and I had a feeling that it was too good to be true.
But on a positive note they don't know where any of them are.
The correct mindset for the stag is to have it removed from the prohibited list. It has no business being there. They use that platform for conservation in the Yukon. It's hands down the best hunting platform. You can change medium calibers for specific game without fuss. The parts are common and available. Semi for a faster second shot. Magazines are perfect for protecting ammo. Mounting a scope or optic isn't some stupid mind-game by a terrible gun counter clerk, just throw it on the pik rail and zero. Not to mention it has perfect application for all other recreational use like 3gun, prs and maybe even service rifle competition.
The Stag 10 NR classification was a fluke ruling for sure. That one could have easily received a Restricted classification and nobody would have questioned it. If it was marketed in the US as well it would have been Restricted.
Unacceptable to be moved to prohibited or restricted.
Add LMT to my list
