I was going to buy an Extreme Weather. I ended up buying the X-Bolt SS in a 300 WM. When I compared the two rifles, I liked the feel of the Browning over the M70. The one thing I considered was the texture of the stock. I thought when the Extreme Weather got wet, I felt the grip would get slippery. I am happy with my choice of rifle.
I went shopping for my new stainless 7 mm rem mag today.
Other guns I added to my original list were the Remington stainless and the Browning stainless A-bolt.
They let me handel the model 70 extream weather..and I was surprised at the feel of the bell and carlson stock. Part of the attraction to the model 70 was the B&C stock..but after handeling the gun it just did not feel like I thought it would.
Ruger 77 stainless felt ok
Sako A7 looked much cheaper then I thought it would.
They did not have the Remington mountain ( .308 )ss in stock.
I forgot to look at a weatherby ss
And the WINNER..to my surprise was a browning X-bolt ss with a zeiss conquest ss 3x9x40.
I will admit I was an A-bolt guy who scoffed at the plastic additions to the new X-bolt.
But the Browning x-bolt felt the best out of all the guns I tried.
Just like Durnet suggested in his reply the X-bolt just felt good.
With stainless talley rings and Zeiss conquest it looks ok as well.
