Stainless Zastava .375?

Better than turning it into a fuzzy red chunk, they're just tools after all. :)

Oh, come now...we've seen photos of lots of your guns. Of course they are tools...but they're not JUST tools! A beautiful gun deserves to stay beautiful, but to be used as well. If that means that a refinish is in order after a bad-weather hunt, so be it. It'll just be surface rust, not structural damage.

There's nothing more liberating than getting that first mark on a nice new gun, so that you can continue to enjoy it guilt-free.:)

That's the truth, like the first chip in a windshield- let em rain after that. Cerakote is indistinguishable from bluing from a foot away to most folks when the colour's picked right. It's Satterlee's standard finish on his titaniums as well, and in blue form, could fool even well seasoned eyes in the field. I do have a distinct appreciation for fine guns you've caught me red handed, however I love a work gun too and would enjoy the imperviousness of cerakote in the tropics a good deal.

Well Ardent, with Boko Haram now operating in Cameroon a few specks of rust on a fellow's rifle may be the least of his concerns. On the other hand such dangers certainly would ramp up the "excitement". :p

They're confined to the north, where the French tourists were taken, I'm going into the southern jungle. Africa's full of exciting ways to die fortunately, the Ebola epidemic is a stone's throw from there now too. Unless they're cancelling flights, I'm departing, have even landed on the last flight into a country before all air travel was ceased. One of my best, and worst trips, getting home was more exciting than anticipated. I'm too old for that these days and despite all the bold talk hope things stay in a row for me. :p Central African Republic has really fallen apart too lately.

Goodness, I have had family in and out of different hell holes in Africa for the past 25 years. Once in Africa it's in their blood, I wish you a safe hunt and travels.

Looking forward to your future posts

Ha, that's what the SOMA brotherhood is for, taking care of one's interests even in the afterlife. I'll be sure to give my wife the PM coordinates. :D

Indeed Fuzzy, my wife's family didn't leave central Africa until the 90's, and it was becoming rather untenable by then for family life. Most of my family has moved out too but some remains in tame corners. Once you've got the taste, Canada for all it's natural beauty, isn't quite the complete enough picture for the adventure addicted.
