I know I am not going to get anything that starts with a b I just want a workable starter semi auto. I was looking at warrior shot guns are the going to be comparable to a stoeger in quality? what is the best bang for your buck when it comes to cheaper shot guns? want to practice on some clays thru some then birds in the fall.
 
Any Remington 1100 or 11-87, Browning Auto or Winchester semi auto will be your best bet.
Mid range guns and not overly priced when it comes to the Italian lineage.
The Mossberg 935 will even run well too.
Buy once and become one with your gun instead of always being on a learning curve is my thoughts.

A good used Remington 1100 or an early 11-87. 1100s, as far as I know are all fixed choke guns, but you can buy different barrels. 11-87s have choke tubes. I find new semis won't stand up to the volumes for clay targets unless you spend the money for a "B" gun.

Do not drop your wood stocked SA-08 from the dunk punt and wait for the tide to roll out.
When the tide finally drops enough for you to retrieve said gun, please ensure that you inspect the barrel for obstructions...by this I mean do not fire it to see if it will clear the mud that is in the barrel.
Seen one three years ago that was dropped into the Ladner Marsh and spent two hours in the water till it was retrieved.
Guy pulled the trigger and bulged the barrel, destroyed the action/receiver not to mention the wood was swollen and started to split.
Anyways, no other experience with the Wby SA-08 other than this real life review.

Weatherby SA-08 or Mossberg 930 (or 935 if you want 3.5") have decent reputations for the money for gas guns, and the Warrior models seem very similar.
For inertia the stoeger semi's seem to be pretty well regarded.

Personally i have tried some inertia guns and just didn't like they way they cycled, i much prefer the gas operated semi's, but either works just fine.
 
Winchester SX1, 50, 59. Remington 1100, 1187. Ithaca XL 300, XL900. S&W 1000. Mossberg 1000. Browning B2000, Auto 5. They are all better choices than any of the new entry level offerings. Get the full choked versions reamed out to LIght Modified constriction and you're set for 90% of all shotgunning scenarios. That's just my $0.02!
 
I've been considering a weatherby sa-08 as well. Any first hand comparisons? I haven't found one in person yet to try out but they seem to have very favourable reviews. My brother has a beautiful beretta that points like a dream and absorbs recoil like magic but it's about $1000 more than I would want to spend.

As for leaving it submerged for hours in mud and then pulling the trigger I think that's a nomination for the Darwin awards:rolleyes:

I have two SA-08 Weatherbys, 1 12ga, 1 20ga, both wood. Bought them new at WSS in Regina for $554 + tax. I haven't fired them, but did use two synthetic SA-08s. They come with 3 chokes and a light and heavy gas valve. Very nice guns for the price. I won't likely wear either one out!
