Steel case ammo with Browning M1919A4

Ah, correction... just popped into my head that yours is a .308 gun. Those cartridge stops are for 30-06, so yours should actually mount to the cartridge stop pin on the left side and be an entire unit across the front of the feed tray, and ending on the right plate.

I don't recall hearing if the rear piece shown here is required or not, but I'm sure browningmgs dot com will have the answer to that question.

Since yours is a .308, it almost certainly has this already. If it does, an option would be to machine a piece of flat bar to fit in front of it that equates to the difference in OAL of your working cartridges to your nonworking ones... and secure it with something basic and easy to put on or off like a flush screw. This way within a few seconds you can change between ammo and likely have everything run like a top.

Once again Kevin very helpful. Appreciated. Proper size ammo is going to do for now. Short cartridge stop will have to be explored.
FYI, the little added spring behing the lever arm in to top cover did work! but It also decided to work without...Lol...since I tried with and without. Go figure?!?

Hahaa! Any time something works is good! The way I see it is that the spring can only aid the function and reduce the chance of your feed lever skipping the track. No real downside to having it in place, which is awesome.

Either way, good to hear it works with or without!

I had the same issue with some soft-point .308 ammo that I was able to get for a VERY good price. In the end, the ammo was almost 1/8" short for the feed-tray as compared to standard 7.62MM ball ammo, so I had to flog it off and get some 7.62 instead.
