Thank you for your edits, the list is more complete and the sentiment is fairer.

But even restricting our sample to predominantly premium models (that aren't currently available), and ignoring # unit sales distribution, the (original) claim of "lower 1/3" is proving to be a stretch. Mid tier perhaps?

The R9 is either at the top of the bottom 1/3 in terms of price, or at the bottom of the middle 1/3, depending on how you work the numbers. Either way is fine by me. I was simply tiring of people saying that the R9 is priced high when it clearly is not.

GIven the current lack of alternative options, I'd say that the owners of SAI are demonstrating positive corporate integrity by keeping the price as low as possible at the very time when they could be making out like bandits, charging whatever they think the market would bear. Good on SAI for that.

Really ?

i've been away for a while, no one of any consequence , member for a few years , just logged in , and this just happened to be the first thread i read as it was the last posting, thus top of the list when i logged in .

What is wrong with half of you ?

why make this a pissing contest among yourselves as to who is smarter, or better informed , or what the interpretations of any laws current or proposed are, when even those who job is to enforce the laws are not quite sure what they are.

On top of which , parliament is prorogued and no one knows whats coming down for another year.

Lets hope its positive for us.

In the meanwhile, here is a business going out on a limb to offer you a product that many of us may enjoy owning.

If you like it , and can afford it then by all means buy one.

If you like it, like i do , but can't afford it right now, like i can't , then i feel for you.

If you dont like it, and don't want it, then shut up .

Go out there , invest you time and money, design , manufacture, jump through all the governmental hoops, and bring to market what you think is a superior product for less money and God bless you. i hope you succeed and make a million dollars. i hope you make us all happy as well and we will buy your product.

If this sounds like too much work for you and all you want to do do is add your negative comments that i myself, and assume that many others , don't give a rat's ass about ,( an ass can be a donkey as well ) , then shut up.

You are free to start your own thread about it and ##### all you want, and you may find 3 people that agree with you. You could start you own club.. You could get together and have a few beers and ##### to each other about all kinds of things. Share you negative thoughts with each other. Love is sharing. I hope you find happiness.

Me ? I would think i would enjoy one of these.

Thank you Siwash for bringing this to market

The current landscape is unstable and you have to realize hundreds of thousands of gun owners have a sort of ban PTSD, where most if not all their firearms are now prohibited as a result of repeated sneaky OICs and FRT changes.

Thats whats wrong with half of us.

In this context its kind of normal and predictable people are concerned with and have a reflex to debate on legality and technical questions in regards to new guns hitting the market.

Keep this in mind next time you have an urge to patronize and tell others to shut up.
Your feelings and opinion of what is written here is not superior to anyone's right to express their own.
No one forced you to read any of it, either.

Looks like a well built rifle. I will be keeping an eye on these for the not so distant future. I'm not jazzed by the mag release nor having to buy another half dozen pistol mags, but it is what it is. If this is the closest competition rifle we have then so be it, but I'm holding out hope that some recent changes get reverted first

Even when the bans are rescinded, what are you going to buy for a competition gun at the $2K pricepoint (mags included) that can compete with the R9 for build quality, features, and durability? Provided it is reliable and reasonably accurate, the T7075 alloy and steel R9 will punch above its price-point in the Canadian PCC field, especially with 10/30 magazines available. That immediately makes it more attractive than any of the "commercial variants" or "rifles" such as the non-Glock-Mag B+T PCCs, the Scorpion EVO, SIG MPX, FX-9, and many others which are limited to 5 rounds per Magazine. Having to strip empty mags from the firearm is mererly a training issue that did not prevent the HK MP5 from dominating the international SMG market for decades. The last round Bolt-lock will easily make up for the magazines not falling free....

I already have three competition PCC's and I would take them over a new platform. But if they are not available to be used again for the long term, then I would consider the R9. But like I said, not a fan of the mag release (personal preference, no matter what you think, its not what I prefer) unless there are no other options. As for the mags, the FX-9 & Raven take glock mags exclusively so not sure where your "5 round" argument comes from, and we don't know how much the mp5 pistol mags will cost retail yet. If they are as expensive as they are in the U.S then we are probably looking at $75-80 a mag vs glock mags at $40 or pmags at $30 (i personally don't like the 30 round mag length, I prefer a shorter mag to make my mag changes similar to my pistols...again, its what I like)

Until this rifle sees extensive field testing for durability, reliability, and the aftermarket support appears, I will wait and hope for a reversal of the current OIC.

Each to their own. I personally dislike the FX-9, as I believe it is under-sprung (heavy recoil impulse) to the point that it will eventually self-destruct. As for Glock mags, I see them as a weak-link. They are subject to premature Feed Lip wear, they are a pain in the arse to load without the use of a tool, and they must be inserted at an angle instead of straight into the firearm's Magazine Well. I prefer full-length, double-feed Magazines with steel Feed Lips and a straight presentation to the firearm. Magazine costs are a factor, but so is magazine durability, which can serve to amortize the initial outlay through extended service. Steel HK MP5 Mags aren't cheap, but they tend to work very well and will last virtually forever with reasonable maintenance.

All of the above to say that individual wants and needs will vary based on intended use, personal experience, previous training, etc. What works best for you may not work at all for me, and vice-versa. I prefer the 10/30 configuration for Magazines because they remain accessible in standard pouches. At the end of the day, the more choices we have, the better. I believe that the R9 is going to be a solid, cost-effective choice for the novice and experienced competition shooter alike. YMMV, and that's fine. Variety in firearms is the spice of life!
