sterling L2A3

For example, maintenance troops at a Canadian airbase in Germany. Some had to be armed in case of paratroops dropping in etc. It was a potential war zone.
How to carry their issued Sterling around while keeping their hands free to do some actual work?

Not sure who made this. It looks to be made of the regular webbing slings etc. were made of.

Hey, I recognize that gun, and table and webbing.

Those "holsters" were Canadian made by a Mat Tech somewhere. Now sitting in one of my various boxes of "stuff".

I had one... unfired from the gun store that was shut down for some questionable activity. Paid $1500 for it and $1500 for a Colt 634 9mm. Sterling came with a Sterling bayonete, spare bolt, sling, spare main spring and a nine mags, 3 Brit and the rest Canadian. Sold it for $2500 in 2012 still unfired. Cost me $6500 to replace it two years ago. That is my number one sale regret gun followed by my Red 9 broom handle Mauser with full holster and kit :( .

Jeeezaz, havent seen you here in a while and you dig up a 7 year old thread. Did your warrant just expire from doing Fed time???😁🤠

Lol... in a manner of speaking... I didn't realize the thread was so old.... Life changes brother... got promoted in army and took over a Unit, left street Crime / drugs and went into JFO drugs and Intel, disappeared for a while. Got promoted on civi side and was still supporting major cases and projects. Worked every day nearly for five years... moved to the country and loving life, very close to retirement on civi side, a few years to go with army but just teaching in Kingston now. Bought a few things along the way :) How are you? Time flies brother...

What would you say is a reasonable price fpr a semi auto sterling?
a plain-Jane semi-auto Sterling Police Carbine in Excellent ondition will set you back $7K or more today, depending on the accompanying parts and accessories (eg. Magazines, Sling, Bayonet, Cleaning Kit).

I scored my 12(5) Mk9 faux Suppressed Sterling L34 for a cool $5K just a few years ago.....

One of the hardest to find was the 12.3, Long Branch made Sten. Lots of dewats and probably a lot of FA, but seems there’s only a few 12.3 guns.
Of course it had the 3 year to the day, visit with the inept lab people to do the half hour work.
Imagine if anyone here took 3 years to do a half hour task.

When I was in Petawawa about 1988, once a year US Green Berets would appear to give us in the CAR foreign weapons training. I was lucky enough to handle &shoot a silenced Mk 2 Sten. In short bursts at 25 yard target to the ears sounded like 22 LR in full auto(?)
Also got to shoot Russian SVD, Dutch built Uzi, brand new Beretta pistol, M79 grenade launcher with red smoke shell. Fun fun fun

The Canadian wall that hopefully will be used a lot more come next November. Two guns with model C1.
It’s like the CFL a few years ago, 9 teams and 2 of them with the same name.
Your wall is missing the Canadian Ranger's C19 (Tikka T3). :sneaky:

Mark, I WANT this gun. I NEED this gun .... and you know why you should sell it to me. ;)

I remember seeing them at CGY gunshow 20+ years ago. Should have bought one back in the day but they were always a little spendy.
