I got a stevens 200 in .308 a while ago that I was going to start throwing money at.
I started cheep with it. Put a 6x24 tasco on it and had some fun with it.
Today I order the first part of my project. I called rifle-stocks.com out of california and ordered myself a stock

http://www.rifle-stocks.com/Thumbhole%20Target%202%20BenchRest%20Version.htm

I ordered it in electric blue just like its shown

I can't wait to get it. The wait is going to kill me. 8 week lead time.

Ill post pictures and updates once I get it.

Good god that's a hell of a stock for a Stevens 200.

Have fun with your build. I hope you compleat it.

What trigger and barrel are u thinking?

Been shooting good only shot it out to 200 yards. Had about a 3" group. I just put together the rest of my reloaing stuff yesterday and loaded a couple boxes. Haven't fired any of my reloads yet. Excited to try though.

I haven't fully decided on a barrel yet. And haven't looked at trigers yet. The trigger is something I really do want to change though. Its a fairly heavy pull.

I still plan on changing the barrel the trigger and a better scope.
This is a project I am going to be piecing together as I go.

Thanks

Dave

Lots of info and product to offer on my website. Look in the tech section on how to set up your rig, load tuning, etc for LR shooting.

Bedding is going to be critical to your success.

Enjoy the build. It is pretty straight forward and there a tons of options.

PM or email if I can help.

The only drag when you order a new barrel is that you'll have to inlet the barrel channel yourself, as more than likely you'll be ordering a heavy barrel.

My first 22-250 was a Stevens 200.
Good little gun. I hear ya on the trigger. It's a heavy one.

I hope you get a new barrel and install it asap. Might look kinda funny in that stock with the stock barrel.

Dave, your are on a path to an cool addiction, enjoy the ride:)

Suggest a timney or rifle basix if you can get your hands on one. Some are saying RB ship direct so do your homework. My timneys are working very well and you can get them down to an acceptable pull of less than 1.5lb where you are dilligent. Cheers.

Recieved my barrel yesterday. im excited to get this thing started. Wanting to call to see what stage the stock is in haha.
The wait for the stick is going to kill me

Thanks to Mystic Precision for the barrel

Trigger is next on the list.

1 Piece at a time haha

Thanks

Dave

I second the Timney trigger. It made a huge differrence to my shooting on a Savage 111. I have full intentions of putting one on my 200 aswell.

Have you looked at scope mounts, the EGW 1-piece bases are highly reviewed. I put a one piece rail on my 111 because the mounts were too far apart for my scope but you shouldn't have that issue. It looks great though!

I have the scope put on right now with a 2 piece rail.

Thanks

Dave

That stock looks like an absolute beast! But a good one.

I ordered my own Stevens 200 in .223 not two hours ago from Cabelas in Winnipeg. Just a quick question for the OP. When yours arrived did it have mounts for rings or did you have to get them installed? From the photos on the Cabelas site it doesn't look like it does but I wanted to make sure.

I can't wait to start shooting the new gun and tinkering with accessories and modifcations. Finally moving up from the rimfire world.

Cheers

I had to get the mounts.

when i got it it was between this and a marlin xl 7 because it came with the mounts.

but i played with both of them in the store and am happy with my decision.

The 2 pices mount i got was about 20 bucks at a local store.

Thanks

Dave

Its fun. i really should get a picture of my reloading setup to show that you dont need to spend a ton of money to get started. i have a press bolted to a board and i clamp it to my coffee table in the living room haha.

I bassed all my reloading stuff off this guys info.

basacly the only difference is the presses

Its actually not that bad, just piece it together here and there thats what i did took me over a month to fianly get all my bits and pieces.
I just wrote a list with all part #s cause people at wholesale arent the smartest sometimes and cross them off as you go. ill see if i still have my list and ill put it on here haha

Dave

Thats site has some great information. Thanks. The biggest hurdle is going to be putting out the money to buy all of the reloading equipment.
