Pretty little thing!

They did not use serial numbers, they cycled through the same numbers again and again, as batch numbers, so there may well have been dozens, if not hundreds, carrying the same number/letter combo.

I'm always amazed when one of these turns up in fine condition. Over 120 years old. Most .22s of the period just got used up.

Yea , Stevens was all over the spectrum with numbering , they used lot (batch) letters
followed by numbers , most records were reportedly destroyed by a factory fire . (yep sure) .

Serial numbers were stamped on the 1885 Removable Side Plates ,1889 & 1894 Favorite
up to 1900/01 ?

On some experimental models 1889 extractor & 1894 adjustables used both .(generally)

This information comes from personal experience and gleaned from
some of the Stevens Guru's I know .

Mine will misfire, is that your problem? Somewhere I have instructions on how to rebuild the action, as it wears it doesn't close tight, didn't do mine yet.

The head space can be adjusted with barrel position tho
by the time it is worn that much the whole action requires work.

I send my Favs. to Gun Dr. Rex in Sask.

Beauty! You know, I seldom feel the desire to shoot the guns I see here on CGN. Then there is this ^this gun. :) Very cool, thanks for sharing.

That's very nice

But... Sure looks like a sniper rifle to me!

Certainly is a good snipe rifle , only they are so cute
and very little meat on them I don't know why any one
would want to shoot them .
