Beautiful !

Too bad you can't actually shoot it. I understand that these were pretty decently accurate. And from my experience with other boys' rifles in .22 a lot of fun to shoot.

Another beautiful gun that’s being Sqwerlled away. 80 year patina? Would it not be 113 or was the gun refinished to arrive at the 80. Also why would it not be shootable other than ammo scarcity. I’m sure you have shells!! Congrats

In my neck of the wood, having available ammunition plays a big role in being able to shoot a firearm :p
- 25 Stevens RF... hasn't been manufactured since the early 40s ?

H&C (out of France, https://www hc-collection com/) have adapters where you can reload 32RF using a 22 blank cartridge as the primer
- Don't think such a device exist for the 25

Oh It's Shoot-able...

As for 80 yrs patina , I figure that it was purchased , used
for 20-30 yrs then set away , that's how it looks to me Chris

Trying to fire 300 buck a box ammo hurts thou. I have one box of shorts and half a box of longs . Not sure why they don't load it again plus the 32 RF.They loaded 22 auto and there was only one rifle ever shot it .

Xactly there in lies the Lynchpin. Cost ..

I have no problem paying $150 /box , $3 / round , I'm not
silly enough to shoot groups with a .32rf or .25 Stevens , I do
those with the HMR & .22lr.

There are 10's of thousands of .32rf & .25 Stevens rf out there , I am
certain 50% would love to be able to stop at the LGS grab a box or 2
then head to the range.

Of those (you) 50% how many would pay $100/box $2/round to
shoot their $250 - $500 rifle ?

Surprizingly Ammunition Manufacturers maynot see that as profitable .

A similar idea to the Hammond Game Getter....

Skwerl, have you posted a photo album of your collection at all? Or any chance you might do so? The opener to this thread was a nice example of some drool worthy photos for us that enjoy these old "boy's rifles".

A thread where separate posts had 4 to 6 photos of each variant and perhaps a little bit of a write up would be highly entertaining for a lot of us.

I managed to score a couple of old Favorite receivers with an internal part or two a few years back. The intent is to use my Frank Hall book and diagrams to draw up the internals and fab them in my home shop to build up the receivers into viable 22LR guns. To that end the pivoting "L" blocks will be made using a good tool steel and then heat treated so I can safely get away with using modern HV ammo.

I've got a few older single shot pivoting block boy's rifles myself. A mixed bag though. Hugely fun to stuff a bunch of CCI Quiet or other subsonic ammo between my fingers and poke away at some targets.

And if you have a bunch of these I would imagine that a couple are such that you would not mind putting a different "shooting" barrel on to permit having some fun with .22LR?
