Not too much said about these on any forum. I believe they started making them in the US recently, will they begin to trickle up here?

How is their reputation overall?

Seriously? Haven't you read through the firearms act and related regulations/OIC's? Because your answer is in there.

Edit: Even going through the RCMP fact sheets would have covered this...

So quick to assume that 'I' want to obtain one and don't know our laws. People with the proper licensing can obtain one in Canada. I want to know their experience with this rifle. Unless you can add any experience of yours with the AUG, you're just wasting your time and emotion typing out something irrelevant to this topic.

You seem to not understand several things.

Firstly, they can't be imported from the states. Second, nobody has been able to shoot theirs in almost a decade. The few that are up here would be Austrian made. Asking about them here is kind of like asking "who likes driving their Maserati", to a high school shop class. They're rare, and very few people have a 12.4 license and can possess them.

By asking if they will begin trickling up here, you have shown that you don't know what you're talking about.

If you want to know about a U.S. made gun that is prohibited in Canada, ask in a U.S. forum... you know... in a country where people can actually shoot them...

Then pretty much anybody that owns one probably doesn't post on CGN. But people still go down to the US and can shoot them down there at ranges for example. I asked about them being imported because I see that some dealers are able to acquire full-auto weapons like Marstar. But I see your point nevertheless. lastly, they don't really talk about it in the US forums, so I was wondering if they were not considered as good as the AR/AK platforms.

That's too bad, it seems like an interesting rifle.

It is, although from what I've heard, the Tavor is a great improvement over the AUG. Having shot the Tavor (several, actually), I can say it is a well balanced and easy to handle firearm.

Interesting that people come on here and ask questions to become informed and in return are ##### slapped for asking stupid questions. I personally find trying to make my way through the RCMP firearms site, a pain in the ass as I usually end up going in circles and not getting my question answered.
I have fired a number of AUG's and found them to be a real joy. I do not love the trigger though. Accurate and handy as hell. I like the old style doughnut optic. Simple quick and effective.
Of all the grandfathered firearms, it is the only one that"I" know of that is in a class of its own. I could quite well be mistaken but this is the only firearm that can only be bought and sold between fellow AUG owners. If you own full auto you can buy other full auto's. You can only buy an AUG if you already own one. Please feel free to correct me if I am mistaken. I wouldn't want to misslead anyone.
Maybe they thought, we can ban Pit bulls, we should probably ban Bull pups as well!

The businesses that can import them cannot sell them to civies.
Grandfathering does not allow for new imports to be acquired, you can only acquire was has been granted grandfathering status back in the 90's.

Many AUGs were confiscated, as they were originally prohib without grandfathering, then "they" changed "their" minds after the Hasselwander case and created a grandfathering class for it. That did not happen quickly enough for everyone who owned one. Lots of folks had $2800 (1990's dollars) rifles confiscated without compensation. It's definitely the smallest prohib class.

Searching for "AUG" yields the answer. Better yet, if the OP is referring to the Microtech stg 556 (U.S. made AUG), the answer can also be found by searching. The Styer AUG is a 12.4 prohib, which is a much shorter list than 12.5, and is much rarer to see people with that endorsement on their license.
