Steyr AUG

The AUG as used by Australia using the M16 mag is a great rifle. Modern versions can be equipped with a 1913 rail so any sighting system can be used. I have never used the long barrel with bi-pod, now that would have been interesting. I will stick my neck out and say that I would pick the AUG before that grossly overrated M4! Now that should insure some follow ups!

The Australians use Steyr mags which are incompatible with AR mags. Well except for their SAS who use M4A1s.

kinda a hijack but I shot one belonging to Marstar last year at a shoot...was awesome!!! :)

When firing you hear a weird spring sound as your ear is close to the butt stock with all the internals absorbing the shock.

Many AUGs were confiscated, as they were originally prohib without grandfathering, then "they" changed "their" minds after the Hasselwander case and created a grandfathering class for it. That did not happen quickly enough for everyone who owned one. Lots of folks had $2800 (1990's dollars) rifles confiscated without compensation. It's definitely the smallest prohib class.

There is about 400 of them.

Most were (circa 2008 anyways) using plastic see through mags.
Seemed like a bright idea, except for that you can't see your last 13 rounds anyway as they're obscured by the mag housing. Pretty much exactly when you want to be able to have that kind of info. I lol'd a bit.

Wouldnt be applicable with just 5 I know, but that's just odd.

how do they go about registering it without a serial number? you arent making any sense now!!! ;)

I'd like to see a semi-auto flat top aug up here. With the interchangeable barrel, it could be decent for varmint hunting. I woulnd't buy one, but would still be cool to be ABLE to.

Two steyr augs

I have one and yes I have shot it. When I bought it was not even restricted. I have quite a large colection of exotic rifles and the aug is by far the best. I just made a deal on an other one and will be picking it up when the post office opens. There are both green and I would like to get a black one. If the STM 556 gets into Canada I will be buying one and I don,t care what the price is

FPS Russia must have the best job in the world and seriously deep pockets.........

The New Aug looks fanatastic, and there is enough rail space there to add what you need.

I'm not a big fan of the action going off near your cheek but i would not be worried using an AUG at all, and in all seriousness when using Bullpups I find the trigger is fine once yu get use to the gun.

Ah the good old days when I could take my Aug out and have fun with full 30 round mags.
Those were the days when your trigger finger would cramp up from pulling the trigger so often.
