Steyr AUG

The new model Augs are the ones to look at, obviously the tavor was developed and built using the Aug and other bull-pups as the standard to beat.

Interesting that people come on here and ask questions to become informed and in return are ##### slapped for asking stupid questions. I personally find trying to make my way through the RCMP firearms site, a pain in the ass as I usually end up going in circles and not getting my question answered.

You're right. It is frustrating to answer the same questions every couple weeks/months. But hey, a lot of people still (especially those who weren't old enough to own firearms at the time) don't know the background of what was done to us as firearms owners.

It's up to us to let them know without dumping on them. Then, hopefully we'll have another advocate to help carry on the fight to have this classification system trashed.

- Can this shoot into space?
- Can it be used for bear defence?
- Does it come with the shoulder thing that goes up?

this thread is now complete

Unfortunately it was feautured by Euro trash bad guys in Die Hard during the 80s. So of course it was prohibited. &@&#}##. Along with a lot of other cool stuff.

To Wendy and crew. I'm rocking with a Tavor. Yippee Ki yay Mother&@&$s.

I've played with an AUG in Canada many years ago. Only fired off a few mags but overall I wasn't impressed.

I owned one, and wasnt overly impressed either.

Acceptable handling. Great craftsmanhp even maybe. But the export sight was dog s**t. Full stop.

Apparently that and Robocop were movies that greatly influenced there ban list.........and no I'm not kidding....

Not too much said about these on any forum. I believe they started making them in the US recently, will they begin to trickle up here?

How is their reputation overall?

No NEW prohibs can come into Canada; what ever was here at the time of the new regs. got grandfathered and can stay.

It's a very comfortable and handy rifle with quick barrel changes. I remember back in the day you were able to get a kit with several barrels and a bunch of accessories in a fitted case. Nice, really nice.

Holy #### dude. That was pretty much all totally wrong.

Hate to be a ####, but please google these things first.

For what it's worth( not much) the handful of NATO people I've talked to who are using them, weren't huge fans. Most said they would prefer an AR.

Define "all totally wrong".

Google what?

I prefer choice. I wish I could have one because I "like" them. BUT, my life does not depend on my weapon. I am assuming that, that is what you are referring to.

It was the OP. Hence my lack of a quote.

Regardless of where my post was directed, You have a serious need to relax. Every now and then, someone will have a different opinion sometimes. No need for that type of behaviour out of a grown ass man before clarification.

You have more time on it than I and liked it, that's cool. All I'm saying is the guys I talked to who were carrying one in theatre didn't like it. That's it that's all, not callin it junk.

If I was talking about you, it would have been quoted.

Definition of all wrong, was every fact in the OP.

Google whatever you want. If you like the aug google your MP and tell him what you want.

Seriously. This place is getting out of hand.

.

Due to your lack of quotes, your post seams to be directed to my post and I'm sure it was. Please take your own advice and allow other people to have an opinion. My opinion was based on personal experience and not of a friend who knew a friend who had a brother in law in NATO that may have touched one.

Learn how to use the quote button so clarification won't be required in the future.

As has already been pointed out, it's somewhat moot - since even if you own a FA you can't legally shoot it anywhere. So it's pretty much relegated to collector's status. I would rather (and do) own a Tavor.

It's funny how when you talk to the guys on the U.S. forums about being able to hunt with your non-restricted Tavor, how quickly they begin to salivate.:D

It's one of the very few advantages we have over our southern gun owners.

I have to jump in here as the AUG is an old favorite of mine. Prohibited by • 12.4: OIC # 12 (OIC = Order in Council) A small class, examples are: Sterling MK6, Steyr AUG, Uzi carbine, Mod A and mini Uzi .To the best of my knowledge never prohibited without been Grandfathered. I think she was way ahead of her time. The trigger could be better but as originally made with the integral sight featuring a doe-nut reticle she was an ideal “squaddies” rifle. They can be set up for a "lefty" like me.

In the "old days", hell that makes me feel old! we hunted Coyotes with them. I don't consider the AUG a hunting rifle but they were great varmint rifles. I taught my son to shoot in our coffee breaks “wacking” gophers with a Galilee, but I digress.

The AUG as used by Australia using the M16 mag is a great rifle. Modern versions can be equipped with a 1913 rail so any sighting system can be used. I have never used the long barrel with bi-pod, now that would have been interesting. I will stick my neck out and say that I would pick the AUG before that grossly overrated M4! Now that should insure some follow ups!

Sadly the AUG was known to the "Antis" due her use in "action" movies so she even had a small prohibited class of her own. For a quick rundown of the prohib classes go to our web page, and look under articles, I drew up a simple overview of classes. If anyone wants to use it as sticky to help others feel free, just mention it is courtesy of WS.

After reading that last rant I am sorry that I posted here. Yes I believe in freedom of speech but this is a public forum, how we portray ourselves here is how the general public perceive Canadian gun owners.
