STG-44 or CZ455?? Solved! Purchased :D

Well, After a ton of thought I got the CZ 455 Supermatch because It comes with the metal 10 round magazine!





I can't decide on one of these for the life of me.

I was thinking with the CZ i can use it grouse hunting but then thought, Do I really wana drag a $600+ into the bush. Plus an over under will give me a shotgun and .22!

Then I was thinking how many rounds ill waste with the STG-44, plus no way to really mount a scope except goofy mount.

But do I really wana drop $600 on a bolt when I can have a semi for cheaper?

Arrrgggh..

So I been sitting here for a month adding and removing each one from my online cart never being able to pick one.

I sold off all my .22's to buy one and now I have nothing!

When push comes to shove over the cost of the CZ and the STG clone you're talking a few dollars.

I have both and I can tell you from experience, they are both a lot of fun to shoot but remember, the STG is meant to duplicate everything about that which it clones, including weight. It's heavy, close to ten pounds. It isn't nearly as accurate as the CZ either.

The CZ weighs in around 5+ pounds and is very accurate. It's a lot lighter than an over/under shotgun, which by the way IMHO is one of the most useless firearms invented. Sounds good at first but nothing beats a dedicated platform.

Go for the CZ for accurate shooting and hunting. Get the STG as well for a lot of plinking fun.
 
Well, you could do what I did and get a JW-15, a Norinco clone of the CZ. $219.00 before tax and honestly, the most accurate .22 I have ever shot.

You shouldn't be dithering between the two choices. Because you are, however, the choice is clear. For you the best choice is the STG 44. It'll give you that "cool" military weapon appearance you're probably looking for. An accurate, attractive, well-made bolt action rifle has the cachet of a Corolla or a Civic, while the Schmeisser look-alike Sturmgewehr 44, the seemingly less pedestrian sub-machine gun of WW II, has considerably more visual and auditory appeal. To sum up, the question sounds like the statements sometimes made by Sunshine girls: "I can't decide if I want to be a pediatrician or a model." The indecision makes the better choice more obvious.
 
Sounds like firearm ownership isn't for you. Too scared to use the tool for it's intended purpose in the field, and too worried about "wasting" ammo to have fun with a semi.
 
I'd personally never buy a bolt action .22

I own the stg 44 .22 and with my nikon 4-12x40 im damn sure it will out shoot any CZ .22 rifle anyday
 
I have a STG and a German bolt action, both are entirely different types of guns, love them both. Grouse are usually very close anyways, and the STG is really accurate for what it is. For heavy field use I leave my bolt action at home. The STG is heavy but tanks are supposed be. Besides it is way more fun to plink with. Also has a lifetime warranty the CZ does not.
 
The STG44 is fun for the first mag after that the novelty wears off and you realised its useless...lol... Thats what happened to me anyways...
 
My oldest child, Thing One was home a while back and we went for a Rhino ride.
I took along a Cooey 64 semi and a CZ452.
The Cooey I hadn't shot yet and typical of a well used Cooey semi, it caused
a bunch of grief.
I handed Junior the CZ and the kid smoked a beer can I found on the ground.
WOW, was the word to describe the difference of the two.
Junk is junk and good shooters make one shoot well.

OP, how long you plan on being on the planet?
Buy something you can appreciate and enjoy putting memories worth of
nicks and chit on.

And if you decide on the 455, I know where there are a couple new ones for sale.
 
Carrying the STG in the bush would be like dragging a boat anchor around. Two totally different guns for their own purpose. The STG for going out with the guys for some spray and pray, looky looky, I hit something, impress the guys action. The CZ for calling shots and hitting the mark, a tad more impressive. Pick your style of shooting.

Get the CZ and don't look back. As others have mentioned, you'll continue to use and enjoy it for decades before passing it on as a heirloom. The excitement of the STG will soon wear off, however, if you feel inclined to do both accurate shooting and plinking, get both!
 
The cz's have almost a cult like following and for good reason! Plenty accurate for hunting with cheaper ammo and silly accurate for target shooting with good quality mid priced ammo. They also hold resale value. Buy once..cry once!

I think there might be a typo in this post. Should probably read; "I'm damn sure any CZ will out shoot the stg 44" lol That may not be 100% true, but it is definitely closer TO the truth. As in, ALLOT closer.

As to the question~pretty sure everything has been covered-off. I think the fact that they come up for sale used so often (in new/like new) condition ought to be cause for concern alone. Not because they're problem guns, rather, that they don't live-up to the expectations. Go see one in the flesh, handle it, etc. They're beasts if you ask me. Zero desire to own one.

I chuckle when I read comments that suggest that bolt guns are boring, as though they're less interesting than semis, etc. I get having a preference of one over the other, but deliberately picking guns that are fussier, less accurate, harder to clean, crappier triggers...well...makes no sense to me personally. Then again, I'm almost exclusively a bolt gun guy and have been through enough semis/levers/pumps to finally be honest about it. :)
 
I dunno about those CZs.... Anyone wanna put a number on how "accurate" they are? Do 1 inch groups at 50 yards make ya folks rave about "CZ Accuracy"?
