STI trojan, Kimber Target II or Springfield Loaded

STI Trojan all the way. I have one in 40 and adore it. Wild West in Edmonton has a Ranger 11 that i may buy for $1295 new. I don't know it that's a deal or not.

Freedom Ventures sells them for $1205. There are other places selling even lower.

Like where, for instance?

I'd rather not say publicly because they're not a sponsor and perhaps the price I was given was a 'one time' thing. Just call around to all the places that sell STIs in Canada and you'll get the best price. All Im saying is that $1295 is not the cheapest.

Ok, I hear you. Thanks.

I got an STI Ranger II in 9mm.
If you're gonna go singlestack 9mm might as well get a more compact one than the 5" trojan.

I got mine from Phoenix range in Edmonton, ordered with tritium nightsights and some springs and extra mags. Cost of base gun less than $$1295. What impressed me the most is that Phoenix range will take care of warranty and repair issues, rather than you trying to deal with distributor directly. This is a great advantage in my opinion.

(P.S. it's not as small as my P7M8 but easier to detail strip and parts are easy to get!!!)

Sti :)

STI Trojan all the way. (unless you go for the Ranger II. Fixed sights, but this little gun rocks!) I sell STI's in "tuned form" and it gets easier all the time. They are getting so where I usually don't have to do a lot to make them as smooth as I like. And I'm pretty fussy :) Components are first rate, STI just isn't into shipping us a gun with a 2 1/2# trigger pull and that's quickly fixed. Warranty problems? - about two (very minor) issues per year and I go through a lot of STI's here. And I KNOW that's a better score than the "other" two :)

BTW, even an Armco-tuned STI Trojan is well under $1295. Like $1230 to your door (plus tax, of course)...

I neglected to mention the Ranger 11 for $1,295 has a hard chromed slide ????????What would that add?

STI lists the "hard chrome" option on their site at $300, so a hard chromed Ranger II (thats a 2 btw, not an 11 ;)) would then fetch over $1400 I suppose. Maybe a dealer can chime in to correct me if Im wrong.

If only the slide itself is hard chromed it may be an older model when they used to be available in two-tone. Either that or a custom order, I suppose.

I've never tried the 9mm versions but I've had some time behind the kimber and the sti in 45. I've seen quite a few springers but never had any trigger time with one.

With the Kimber and the sti:

-Both shot supremely accurate. I'm no marksman by any means but both guns made me look good.
-Both had all the go fast goodies a guy could ever ask for.
-Fit and finish was excellent on both.

One of the trojans I test drove had the front site fall off. Never seen that happen before but from I what I gather it had quite a few rounds through it. Shoot enough and something will shake loose no matter the manufactuer.

Other than that the trojan is a great deal for any price.

Really it's more a matter of taste than anything. All the guns you listed are excellent 1911's.
