Sorry about the Pic fail!
I was looking at a CZ457 LRP and realized I didn’t want to go down that Rabbit Hole.
Chasing and upgrading $$playing the parts game.$$
Looked at the many options and then I saw the Cz 452 Farewell Edition.
Well I couldn’t resist and mine is #517 of 1000.
I do plan to upgrade the Trigger spring and also extended mag release and that’s all.
Up top is a Vortex DiamondBack 3-9 /40

Hey all, looking to pick up a CZ model for smallbore silhouette. With classification seems I need a tapered barrel with American style stock eliminating target or heavy barrel models for the most part.

Seems some guys are shooting the 452 due to similarities to the Anschutz 1712 and some forums give the older model high praise due to shooting “better”, one friend also said how the barrel is lay in the stock is more solid resulting in better accuracy but I’m unsure if this is really true. A new 457 is mostly the direction I’m leaning as it seems to have many “updates” compared to the older models.

I have quite long arms so may need to add some spacers or butt pad to the end of the rifle for a better fit or some adjustment pad/ foam to get a better cheek weld but looking to keep weight down. Wood stock is always nice but open to synthetic to keep price down. Let me know your guys thoughts on what I should be looking for and ideal barrel length too, cheers ya’ll.

Got my PAL a week ago. My first guns came in on Friday from CSC, including my 457 American. It's a beautiful rifle, and I can't complain about figuring on this one.

I was a bit worried the Warne 722M rings wouldn't be tall enough for the Riton with it's lens caps (since the caps add noticable thickness), but there's a few mm clearance.

I made a few upgrades to my CZ457 MTR
now with IBI barrel and MDT Oryx Chassis. I am still trying to figure out if these upgrades improved the accuracy:

So far, mine has improved my shooting. I used a supermatch 455; it was a great shooting rifle on it's own, but since it went thi the chassis, groups have definitely tightened up a bit, and are more consistent in size and shape. The only thing that I found undesirable was the MDT Pistol Grip; it just felt cumbersome in my hand. I have since changed it out for a cheap, black AR grip which fits me much better.

The improved shooting, I believe, is not solely attributed to chassis either; the trigger was already quite nice with zero take up, but was a bit heavy; YoDave trigger kit springs fixed that to about a 1# drop safe trigger now. I have tried various rests and shooting bags, but keep coming back to the simple amazon carbon fiber 6-9 bipod and a simple squeeze bag. I find this design a little awkward with the rear squeeze bag, and have ordered an adjustable Carbon reinforced monopod/combo bag rider for it from a guy who prints them on Gun-post. I think it may help me also.

I tried 3 different brands of ammo and so far it likes the CCI and Federal 17gr.

My recent cz 457 at-one I’m not usually into wood stocks but this one tickled my inner termite. I bought the rifle set up like this without optic. I decided on the arken scope after countless YouTube videos told me so. I’m pretty happy with the arken overall. The one thing I didn’t like was the LOP of the at-one. Extending the awful butt pad out far enough, made it wobble all over, and look like a spoiler on those cars I hate. I attempted to resolve the LOP issue by stacking up some rubber strips and aluminum like a licorice all-sorts. The adjustable height pretty much added itself.

My ex-gf had an At-One 457 and it was very nice. Some people don't like that stock but its nice.

I agree with you that the lop was a bit short tho...
