Still No action-Whitetail.

Nothing is responding to calls yet, but the movement is slowly picky up(some bucks starting to move) but we are in store for more warm weather , something we don't need at all. That may bugger up their movement once again.I actually saw more animals in the first 2 weeks of September than all of October.
 
Going out this afternoon. Finally ! Work and other commitments and all that BS. Hope to see something as it's the last day with the smokepole if not It'll be the Rambo rifle round up out there starting Monday:mad:


Hopefully I'll have positive news but that warm weather coming in may slow things down.

We are getting over run by those godam things. I hit another one tonight in my wifes car taking the kids out trick or treating. The pucker jumped out of the ditch 1/2 mile from my house. I see at least 30 everyday.

Tell some of the CGN'rs in your area and they'd be happy to thin them out a bit.

AS for tonights hunt.

Three deer in the bino's. Doe and two fawns only. They were moving 20 minutes before legal shooting time was up about 300 yards back in the bush from the fields.
Found a new scrape line with five fresh scrapes.:D

Deer are not moving. I drove around a bit after legal shooting time to look at some fields to see if anything came out and nothing was out feeding.

The bucks are really starting to move in my area (south of Ottawa). Cold weather and our first real snow seems to be the kick in the junk they needed. If I was paying attention to my field instead of watching the birds/mice I'd be elbow deep in deer guts right now.

A decent 8 point (4x4 for you westerners) buck snuck along a hedgerow I only saw his tail as he crossed the only opening. By the time I got my binoculars on the area, he was in the tall grass, and I lost him until he got half way through the next field, walking away from me. Thats when I noticed the head gear.

Good to hear! I'll be heading back home (Ottawa Valley) within a week to head out for rifle season with my dad. It's my first year out, and I'm sure it would make for a good first deer if I was able to take it out with him! He'd be proud of his daughter, I think ;)
I've been out a few times down this way (S. ON), saw a doe and a fawn (but got busted before I could get a shot), a big doe out at 40 yards (too far for me with my bow, at least right now it is) and then had her come within 15 yards, stopped to eat, totally broadside...directly in front of me...and it was too dark! I could just make her out in my sights, but wasn't sure exactly where I was aiming, so I didn't take the shot.
Sounds like things are moving 'back home' though, so maybe I'll have some luck up there!

Things sure are quiet for me out here in the Eastern Townships of Quebec..... They seem to be moving at night! My apples disappear over night & the scrapes are usually freshly pawed in the mornings..... UGH! Good luck everyone!
 
yeah got my doe also,the only one to come into bow range this year.But sure frustrating spending 2 1/2 months stand hunting and seeing very little movement. Need a good cold snap to get them jump started.

A buddy of mine from P.A. is starting to see some action at his stands now. You need to learn patience Grasshopper.;):p:D
