Stolen pistol 5 years ago recovered (now with test fire video edit on first post )

This is a great story, that would be one gun I would never sell. Waiting for the range update. I can't help but imagine this is how you answered the door lol.

...uh, it was a Kimber Custom in .45 that was returned!? Not a Neo .22!?

Clearly any man who owns a .45 never answers the door or anything else for that matter like ^^this^^. ;)

I'm sure he was happy and relieved to have it home again though.

Glad you got her back! Years ago a friend had his Norinco 5.56 AK stolen (good thing he kept the bolt separate!). The cops phoned him three years later and offered to return it. Dummy turned them down and kept the insurance money. He's kicked himself ever since!!

Congratulations!
After your pistol was stolen, you just reported to RCMP, and then what? report to CFO and un-register that pistol?

No.
police come, dust for prints, take statement, .
only the police can report it stolen to cfo.
they will not remove your name or ownership of the firearm from the database or registry
it stays regesterd to me the whole time, but officially removes any liability to me, as it is not in my custody. I still have the original CERT.
so when/if, the police recover a firearm that has been reported stolen
they know who it belongs to and that it was stolen, and I have no part in any miss dealings witch may have ensued with the said firearm.
when recoverd police then call CFO and place custody back in my name and all is good .

Good to know, thanks!

Just imagine how many times that thing was pulled out the back of some bangers baggy jeans and held sideways while he showed off his new "gat" to his buddies in a basement somewhere. The fact that it looks like its never been fired only serves to prove the vast majority of "hardcore" bad guys are really not as "hardcore" as they want you to believe. But still VERY bad guys.

Great to hear a positive story about guns and the police for a change. Question, why is this not on the news somewhere? I bet if it had been stolen yesterday it WOULD be on the news.
