Stopping Rifles, .375 - .450 - .505 Gibbs

I've seen the 505 on the ee but I don't see one on prohet rivers site. Epps had a nice 505 and lots of "cheaper" ammo for it.
The AHR 550 customs have an appreciably better fit and balance to me, at twice the price of course.

Just to stir the pot, Profit River has a CZ 550 in .505 Gibbs for sale under their consignment guns. Its a steal too, only a tenth of the price they want for a Cogswell and Harrison .470 double rifle.:stirthepot2:

The 470 CH is a true consignment. Owned formally by a British General who loaned it to a Canadian Doctor during the war. Ended up in Canada never went back over to the U.K. Interesting story.

I agree, I think they are a fantastic option in the big calibers :)

Wait a minute, were you taking a swing at the cz's there ? :)

Are you converting the new crf winchester to a lott? How thick is the barrel in that area? I ask because I'm interested in doing the same to one.

Ardent: Can you describe your methods/technique for reloads? I'm interested in where and how you are carrying the double refills as well as if you are racking bolts from the shoulder. Probably will make all the difference in times.

I can't give you the dimensions in inches because I don't have the rifle in front of me. There is all kinds of room though, Winchester even did some through the custom shop. I've got a Lott reamer if you need one. Mine is getting fitted with AI mags since I use it as a "starting", "stopping", "during", "mop-up" and "stray cat" rifle.

The Zimbabwe PH I hunt with has a Lott converted M70 as his go to, runs like a hot damn. I know this doesn't mean much, but pretty common and simple conversion. If I keep my stainless .375, I might do a Lott project on it for a light, 18.5" stopper for work.

This doesnt mean the ele hunt is off does it?

Most of those African Lott conversions are done with a T-handle. With a CZ and a conversion reamer that doesn't cut the belt portion deeper you could probably do it with your eyes closed.
