Hey,

So whats the story on glock 17 gen 4 having fte and ftf issues? Is the dual spring thing the fix for it?

Thanks

My Glock 34 Gen 4 works flawlessly

There was an recoil spring exchange program for the first Gen 4,s to come out

IIRC After April of this year they all came with upgraded springs .
This is the markings of the new springs

I have a gen 4 17 and have shot all kinds of ammo, different bullet weights and manufactures, never had a failure. It just keeps on going.

That's the problem with them. Some of them don't work out of the box, others don't manifest problems until a couple thousand rounds are through them.

"All kinds of ammo" is a subjective term. How many rounds do you have through yours?

Where do you get your facts from? I would like to see some info.

problem is solved "do not lesson to so called internet experts" Most to all gun companys out source there parts to other companys. So if the other company Sh*ts the bed on the part, glock gets blamed "no fault of there own, just bad luck" SIG USA as been through this with there take down levers.

Any new glock you buy will have the upgraded spring assy.

The story I herd... apperntly the Glock Gen 4s were having a problem when it was a .40cal and a tatical light mounted on the rail. They did solve the problem by replacing the single spring to a double captured spring. But if you don't run a tactical light, and a model 17 (9mm) some guys prefer the original spring set up.

I have 5598 rounds through my Gen 4 Glock 17. I replaced the capture recoil spring early on (after 200 rounds) but I did not have any issues with the stock spring.

Since my Gen 4 was also an earlier model, it did not have the newer "dot" connector. I ordered a replacement through Glock Parts. Trigger weight is more in-line with Gen 3's now.

I have not experienced any stoppages that I did not induce (snap caps). I run an Insight M3X light on my gun. I've fired:

-115gr, 124gr, 147gr
-FMJ's, JHP's, Plated bullets
-Factory loads, Military loads, Commerical and my own reloads

If I do my part, it will shoot properly. YMMV.

do I see rust?

I wish the problem was just the recoil spring assembly...that would have gotten fixed quickly.

They also had, as Clobbersaurus mentioned, issues with both extraction and ejection. There is a possible issue with slide geometry at the ejection port but that is less clear.

Frankly I don't know if they have got it sorted or not. Last I looked the answer was "not" but that was a couple of months ago.
