$1000 is steep but $1000 for one of these is a much better option than $800 for a deactivated paper weight. You know its almost $1000 for an airsoft AK? This bolt action version is still a much better deal. Id buy one just for the fact it may pave the way for a semi auto version in the future. Plus, if its allowed to have 10 round + magazines. Wowzers!
What I don't understand is why someone doesn't bring in receivers for Valmet M78 and build them here like they build kit guns in the states. I understand the people who paid $5000 for their M78's would be pissed but those who paid $250 for an SKS in the 1960's was probably also pissed when they came in by the boat load for less than what they paid.

As for Valmet, they're no longer in business and therefore there ain't no more receivers to buy. That ship has sailed a long, long time ago... In essence, if you want to buy a cheap AK variant (or any combination thereof) in Canada, you have to buy yourself a DeLorean and drive it at 88 mph first.
