picked up a strange Browning 78 in 45-70,octogonal barrel with iron sights,high gloss bluing,what makes it starnge is the engraving scenes on either side,one side has an Elk,the other a Wolf,it is definitely factory,the wood is satin not high gloss,steel crescent buttplate.it's not one of the bi-centennial engraved models since they are silver colored receiver,this one is engraved in the blued receiver only,it's marked as 78,,not B78.
i haven't been able to find another one pictured anywhere,but i would love to know what this thing is,might be rare,who knows,but it sure is beautiful mint rifle.just wish knew what it was,
