Stripping ABolt Bolt

Conor_90 - my point was not to promote the Kesslerin rifle - it apparently has its issues. WhelanLad has a rifle he is considering to make lighter to hunt with - I am suggesting perhaps he can get to his 4 to 6 ounce weight reduction, simply by using example like a Ruger #1 or a Kesslerin - less ammo on board...

Typically do not go hunting with an empty rifle - usually has a scope and rings on it, some ammo, often a sling etc. - all in, as you carry it, is what, I think, you want to work down from. A 20 ounce 4-16x42 scope may not be worth it, when a 10 ounce 6x33 will do, with some couple hundred rounds of practice. And so on. Same with ammo - I am astounded at the weight of fully loaded AIA 7.62 mags for my AIA rifle. Can only imagine what the real 20 round ones for M14 are like - that is "weight"...

My response was tongue in cheek; they are very nice rifles.

I agree; I know whelen lad has a ruger no 1 in 303. If he wants to go lighter and full bogan baikal single shots with synthetic stocks are light and cheap ( though I have seen 7.62x54r models for 3x what they cost at Epps when they could still import them).
 
All good, we are likely on the same page! My younger brother and his buddy decided to walk up into Willmore Wilderness Area out of Grande Cache, Alberta for a week long sheep hunt - on foot. Discussion /planning topics apparently included whether a full length handle on tooth brush was really needed - how may pairs of socks and underwear really needed for a week? So, then, great big scopes on "magnum whacker rifles" with ounces per round, seemed to be overlooked. I think the Euro chamois hunters have some experience at that game of lightweight, but enough for the task when it comes.

They were younger - in their forties, then - hauled a pair of 300 Win Mags up into high country and back down. Do not think they would do that again...

Yep Swiss and Austrian smiths perfected the mountain rifle before the 84m and tikka ultralight were even a twinkle in someone’s eye...

No big bad grizzly bears in Australia either, for those who use that as the reasoning behind a repeater

the crazyness is , i have a Ruger 303 in the safe.................. 303 V 308 V 3006.... same sames.

the weirdness is i dont particularly love it for every day , scoping them is a bit weird but can obviously be done well 4b0, an i sort of do need the extra rounds.
not Grizzlys, but Wild dogs- an when oppertunity arises i want 3 or 4 of them :)

i happen to miss the first shot more often than not in alot of situations in the past an without that cycle an 2nd id have gone hungry :D

yeah i also only carry 2-3 rounds in the rifle, 1 in the chamber and 2 in the mag....


the other thing i can do is put a 2-7x33 varix on it, but to me thats a definate 300m backline hold setup.. not a bad idea - perhaps lose the QD rings aswell?

one round equates to 27 grams or .9 oz . imagine drilling 10 holes in the mag :D :p gees she be light.
an its hidden, so no one seems the holey magazine.. top secret.

and floorplate, well couple holes would aid in the Grip for material of Gloves or even bare hand when wet and slippery, as current smooth finish is the place of palm to lay under when carting rifle.... geeez sounds gooood.

then my big bolt handle, useless, ive seen some rifles with just a lever :D :p imagine a neat little hole drilled in that .2oz gonski

copy mate, the ruger is scopeless an is nice as a novelty morning stalker! light without scope. just as heavy i rekon but more compact with scope..

yeh a bro mentioned a Rossi even or TC ,Baikal... im just not keen on the single as i have that covered. i need the daily go to Lefty model a touch nicer to enjoy it.

A set of Talley lightweight ringd and a leupold 2-7 would make a big difference over steel rings and a Zeiss!
 
You can just look up Wildcat Composites on Facebook and message them and they respond pretty quickly.

It looks like they do a fair bit of international sales to Nordic countries and finland

i didnt see any except for FN? brownings, an stuff.

i think its alot of money for not a huge gain? has potential to heavy up the front end without loppin the tube aswell.

the Abolt stock feels good for me, i like the palm swell esp o nthe right side now!

my mates doin the drillin an CNC work for $0 but wants a 'guided hunt on a good stag' in return........ thats easy!
 
Strong words about a ladies rifle......I like when i slide my hands down to the firmness of the bolt hard and erect.... slip a little lower and feel the opening in the middle ...... I slide the magazine in gentle and fill the hole....grabbing the bolt I ram it back and push it all the way in hard....... i gently finger the thumb safety and slide it forward with a caress ....... finger on the love button and gently squeeze ..... boom a mind blowing explosion of heat and sound .... the thrust back is solid .... i repeat many times a day .... not a ladies gun ....
