STRONG PRESS?

I have a RC, a RS, a Lee Turret and a TruLine Jr. They all have their uses. The RC is a tank. Also able to use large dies like those for .577.
When doing any heavy reforming, sizing etc. Imperial Sizing Die Wax really makes a difference.

A 7.62x51 shouldn’t be that hard to resize, did you put a snipe on the handle or something? lol
Almost sounds like something wasn’t set quite right or you have a bad sizing die maybe. I had a bad 7.5 French one a few years back and Lee replaced it with a new one

I have a Co-Ax and I really like it. Probably the only single stage I will ever need. Pretty sure they do an XL version now too (not sure if that is stronger / does bigger calibers or both).

Short Action Customs does a real beefy looking press and the Area 419 is a thing of beauty.

But I will stick with my Co-Ax.

Imperial sizing wax is of course a classic that has stood the test of time. However when it comes to heavy sizing and lowering sizing effort the same company (Redding) sells Bio-Green. Billed as for hard sizing jobs, the difference between it and Imperial sizing die wax or anything else I’ve ever used is day and night. Sizeing effort is reduced to a fraction, and the die practically spits out the sized cases. Its tempting to say that I’ve tried everything but that would be an exaggeration; nobody has tried everything possible. I can say I’ve never seen anything that comes close. It’s like the difference between shooting a bullet and throwing the darn thing.

I don’t want to turn a broken press thread into a lube thread; but reducing the load is sort of the same as making the press stronger, and reducing the load on wear parts will increase their life. Not that many people break or wear out their presses anyway; but still😄

A used Lyman Omag is good. Cast. Tall port good for RUM, Lapua, big Weatherby. Orange crusher had compound leverage.
I have the older version of that, the Orange Crush I think it was called. Passed my Rockchucker on to a family member. It's still working too, last time I saw it. I have Dillon, Lyman, Lee and RCBS presses (not counting the shotgun stuff). I've worn out a Lee Turret press, never broke it though. I think the Rockchucker or the big Lyman would be your best choice for "strongest", but have no scientific data to back that up, just 45 years of reloading experience. - dan

I have a massive press in my shop, which I acquired over 50 years ago.

I don't know who made it or when it was made. There is nothing on it to indicate the manufacturer or date.

It has a huge base and post with an articulated lever system, pushing the cartridge holder up the base, rather than using a mandrel.

The whole thing appears to made from cast components, and it accepts two different diameter die sets. The old 5/8 in, Ideal, system and later the standard 7/8 in system.

It's been used for sizing, reforming everything from 50BMG, down to 25acp.

I know, pics would be nice, but I'm tech challenged.

Had an old Lee in the 70's...worked great for the few things I was reloading then.
Runnin a rig from coast to coast since 1981 allowed me to stop at alllll the kool gun shops nation wide for a lot of yrs !
I picked up a Lyman kit early 80's from Barotto Sports in cowtown. (( aging myself now...lmao)) man, I slung a LOT of ammo thru that old heavy turret press Never an issue..EVER ! Kept the old Lyman till 2003..or so,

Got lots of supplies and ammo from Lever Arms in Vancouver. LeBaron's old shop in Mtl..also SIR in the peg...man, I loved stopping at those shops..miss them too !

Picked up a LEE progressive for my pistol stuff, in the mid 80's no issues either.

I then gra-gee-ated to the Forster Co Ax right when I sold my old Lyman...still have it...I Love it ! Smooth as silk...not much pressure needed to resize anything..7mmRM, 300WM, PRC's down to the 223...all with ease !
Best press I've ever owned for rifles !!
