I wasn't really happy with the -25 metal-to-chin weld when shooting this afternoon so I thought I'd give this a try. IIRC it was a member from the Czech Republic who posted a pic of a shorty VZ with what looked like pipe insulation on the folder arm. I wasn't sure how to secure the insulation, as I didn't have any suitably coloured duct tape on hand (black would work well), so I wrapped it with 550 cord. Ignore the loose ends, they've been secured but not trimmed. I could have started the wrap a bit closer to the butt end of the foam.
It gives a slightly higher, less frosty cheek weld.
What do you think?
