Su16 - what's the deal

I agree. You can't paint a manufacturer with a broad brush especially when they use different design philosophies for different models. The RFB is such a completely different gun to the KSG or SU-16 and can't be compared.

Agree'd, I've owned the RFB, KSG, and Sub2000 and I thought the RFB and KSG were great firearms but the Sub2000 felt cheap, it was reliable and accurate but just felt cheap. They sell firearms to fill market voids and they do it well, just don't buy a $600 folding plastic toy and expect it to be battle ready.

Don't forget, a lot of people liked to call the AR-180B vastly overpriced, and an $600 rifle at $1,400 prices.

I own 2, and love 'em both, but I know what people say.

I should have never sold mine, some day I'll buy it back from my buddy. He's enjoying it too much to take it from him though when I have so many other toys.

I love how people go on about the reciever cracking.... Anyone else remember the HK SL8 having the same issue?

I do.

Put it this way, do your research, handle the firearm yourself, and see what you think.

I remember clearly, I had one of the first SL8-4's in Canada and had the lower crack, it was replaced under warranty then the replacement cracked after 400 rounds. I got the third lower and sold it with a warning to the new owner.
I recently had a newer model that was modded heavily and it was fantastic, shot great with quality ammo and was very ergonomic with the HERA gen 2 lower and ACR folding stock.

I bought mine at the end of summer. Bought it even if i knew the receiver issue. I dont regret it at all,im waiting on the cold weather to come to testing it to see what will be happening. So far only 40 rounds trought it and nothing but good thing about this rifle.

Manage to mod it a little !

No offense, but 40 rounds is a joke and not even worth mentioning. Add at least one zero(preferably without cleaning) before you can begin to discuss reliability.

How does a person even go out shooting a new semi auto and only run 40 rounds through it?
Unless I'm hunting a day of shooting consists of at least a couple hundred rounds and I would never hunt with a firearm I hadn't put a few hundred rounds through.

Have you given up pointing out spelling and grammatical errors?

get one of these , better then a mini 14 , everything the su16 is but as durable as a AR.
ETA, under $800 U.S.

Do they exist in Canada? Has anyone submitted this the RCMP for a FRT?

It looks nice, and if its $800 usd then they would be what, $1100 here?

Oh wait. Just looked it up, runs on a AR-15 upper. So that would make it an AR variant, and thus restricted, no? This is just a way for americans to get around the assault weapons bans that effect rifles with a pistol grip...

Here's my experience so far:
I've run about 500 or 600 rounds of Norinco and American eagle 5.56 through mine without any problems. I ran the gun for about 500 rounds without cleaning over the summer as I was camping and traveling, and had about 4 or 5 FTEs. I was pretty happy with that. The coldest I've shot in was -10 and the plastic parts are fine.
I like that it can be field stripped without tools.
I've heard that accuracy off the bench tails off after a few shots due to the pencil barrel getting hot, but I bought the gun because it's light and it folds - I'd rather have a pencil barrel on the thing. I can't confirm or deny as I just plink out to 50 meters or so with mine. I really like the forend, but I wish the gun shipped with the underfolder stock from the C-model from the US.

No offence taken, but i was just talking about my experience with the rifle so far,and the way i was enjoing it,didnt know it take a certain amount of rounds fired to a rifle to enjoy it.

Because it's semi-auto i have to fire the hell out of it ? not every body is trigger happy like you sorry and when im going to shoot i dont bring one rifle with me but at least 3-4 so depend on time i stay at the range...

As for grammar sorry but english is not my native language,it is ok with you ? or i need to leave the conversation ?

I was wondering why ,my bullit placement was 2 inches low, on a moose I shot,a couple oy yrs ago. It was with my brand new Browning X bolt, SS barrel ,7 mm. Only 3 shots to zero and the fourth , took the moose at a couple hundred yrds. Thanks for the heads up,I'll make sure the next one gets a few hundred rnds through it before taking it hunting... :) :) :)

Yeah.. Every gun is different... And the principles of marksmanship change drastically from one to the next...

And always confirm zero with at least 200 rounds... That way if the gun decides to change the way it shoots you can anticipate it because you know it so well.

Someone has a lot of money to confirm zero with 200rds from a bolt action using hunting ammo.
Not sure how you can anticipate that it's going to shoot different, when that one shot you take during the hunt presents itself.

Ya ,I was kidding, I don't know of any hunters who fire 2 or 3 hundred rnds through a hunting rifle ,before taking it hunting. My father in law has been taking moose ,with a 30 30 for decades, using iron sights. He never sights it in , says he cleans it with the bullits, and never misses. It's an old beater but it gets the job done.

Lol, you don't need to be trigger happy to run more than 40 rounds through a new semi auto. I also usually take 3-5 rifles out with me as well and each of them usually gets at least 100, if I'm not doing load development I'm just having a good time shooting. Even my hunting rifles usually get 50+ rounds through them on a range day because I'm always trying new loads looking for that magic combination that I can finally settle on and quit looking for better results.

No, just TDC used to comment on bad spelling and grammar, now he seems to have given up on it.
