Been coyote hunting for several years now and due to a combo of bad luck, missed shots, low population and lack of fields I had not bagged a dog till today!
I noticed lots of tracks on a logging road near home so i went out today and set up, fresh tracks as usual. Put the foxpro 80 yds out and a bunny decoy. Turned it on cottontail and the dog came running in within 3-4 minutes.
Wind was at my back (green) decoy and caller (blue dot) dog came in (orange) at a fast trot but slowed about 130 yds out and started to get suspicious. Took the shot and it wheeled back and went in the woods but not very fast so I knew I hit it somewhere ( I hate running shots, why can't these things sit for a while??)
I tracked it for a long ways with drips of blood till I caught it in a swamp and finished it. Turns out the shot broke it's left front elbow, don't think it would die from that, not right away.
