Suddenly, all these 'deals' on possibly blemished IURs....

A supplier stated they were made in anticipation of a foreign company exercising an option to purchase additional units. Apparently the sale fell through and CC was suddenly awash in them.

Don't care why, but bought one for the great deal.

How much more do these weigh than a regular upper?

When I say regular - I mean normal carbine hand guard - no rails - 16" barrel (comparable profile).

I might be getting ready to drink the kool-aid...

I bought one at full price when they first came out, how do you think I feel?

They were originally sold as a super scarce item, never to be seen again. Oops....well, thats not quite true now is it? Now we mysteriously have a "cancelled" contract, or another overrun.
But this one's different. These are "blems", so getting blown out for alot less than us suckers who bought one at full price, thinking we'll never see these again. Wrong.

Thanks CC, for killing any resale value close to what I paid for it. Way to screw your own customers over; but what do they care, we are a small part of their income, right?

The koolaid is tasting bitter to me right now.

Yeah, it really sucks that we paid so much more for them. When the SA20s first came out, a lot of people got screwed when the new pricing was released afterwards, then the LE/MIL discount introduced after that.

But at the end of the day, it’s still a wicked product, and I’m glad I have one.

I'm not saying its a bad product or anything, it is a great upper, and I'm glad I have one too.

I just don't like being duped with the BS from CC, and then having more show up at nearly half the price. Since they shut their forum down, all the old threads are gone about how rare these were, how we would never see them again, and get one now!

Just view what CC says (oh, they don't say anything anymore, I forgot) with a grain of salt, and question what retailers say about rarity, etc. Some more, it seems, will show up.

It's a typical skim the cream price strategy. Price high and early adopters will pay the high price to have it first. A year or two later price drops and the masses start buying. A year later again price drops further the " laggards " buy them up. Business school 1000

Do you suppose that at the time the first batch was released from the warehouse in Canada, they weren't aware that there were going to be more returned from overseas?

I'm just glad I couldn't afford one at the time when the $899 price was available or I would have one in my safe now. Gotta suck for those who did pick one up especially as they were supposed to be in limited quantities as Repro77 states.

Yeah CC's great kit, but Colt Canada needs to get their act together on initial pricing and numbers of product to be available if they want us jumping on their products first price out on any new kit that may be coming down the pipe.

I'm really holding off on the 15.7" IUR at this new lower price (although it's very tempting) because I'm hoping to be able to buy a whole CC IUR rifle in the near future (if they do actually become available).

Something about owning a CC IUR w/o a CC bolt, kinda messes with my OCD; that and I want a 11" or 14.5" IUR more then a 15.7".

Here's to hoping for some IUR goodness in the new year,

Cheers D

Maybe, assuming that story is true tho.

Bottom line is its a great upper, and a great deal for those buying one now, but a kick in the teeth for those of us that bought the first batch that was marketed as very rare, and not to be seen again.

This some of them are "belm" so it's now $599 is pure BS, I paid 899 each for 2 back then, both had blemishes on them as well, one had shinning gash across the rail, I swapped one of them with my dealer and kept the other one,
thank god I sold both for the price I bought them for becasue I packaged them with these "rare" CC stripped lower(another BS), therefore I was able to recover my full purchasing price....
they had a ton, can't freaking unload them fast enough, hence $599, simple as.

Nope, it's a kick in the nuts, lol! And it hurts, lol!

Let's see...
A item is sold directly from the manufacturer.
Same item gets sold to a customer, shipped overseas, and then is returned to the manufacturer and resold.

I guess no one would mind if they found out their new gun had been sold, returned and resold as new.

I wanted to pull the trigger on buying a CC lower receiver, but the price is nuts for what you are getting. A Kac lower is much better considering the trigger and true ambi features.

Guys yes this sucks but it happens every day. We need to stop whining about it. If you go into ford today and pay $45 k for a new f150 you know when they clear out the model year you'll get it for $37 and 0% financing. I know it hurts being out a couple hundred bucks. But you've been enjoying and shooting those uppers for a year now. I also like the fact they're canadian made and there's an amount of pride that goes with that. Now Trudeau it just got harder to take our ar's cause 500 people just supported a canadian business and will continue to support that business.

For whatever reason ; Colt Canada became over stocked and is selling this product off at sale prices to reduce inventory.....it happens to all kinds of manufacturers....

Good to know.
