Summerland Long Range Fun Shoot 2008 - April 12, 13th

Oh, I did check with the restaurant. Deb has the Salmon but they ran out of steak for you.

The nice leafy greens, lightly seared almonds and tofu that was ordered originially is fine but you will have to wrestle Glockamaniac for his steak. :)

Jerry

There's where you made the mistake....!! Glock drives a beamer....he's the Tofu and greens eater!!;) Rick and I are still working on that!! But there is sometimes only so much we can do!!:p

We will do our best to make it in for the Noon Departure on Friday. We will try our luck with the radar detector and hopefully BC and Trout Seeker will keep our path clear!!:p

See you guys and gals real soon! I finally had a chance to take the latest Savage .223 to the range. It likes the same load as last years gun, so no load development needed (thank goodness, no time for that now...)!

1/2" at 200 yards, little bugholes at 100. Them Savages are amazing! I need to spend some time shimming if I want to get to the mile. Hopefully tomorrow AM.

That is great news. Think at least 50" up at 100yds. The 75gr Amax flies less flat then the 80gr Amax. That will put you around 1300yds and have enough elevation and reticle to make the trip to the mile.

Jerry

Unless Glock, ATR, and C4PYRO leave at 0400hrs I don't think we'll make it in much earlier.

Please forward directions to the location so we can drive up. I'm dying to use some of Glock's ammo on his 338LMAI ,,,, HA!

Ohhh you guys are ball of laughs. Though I don't mind tofu in my Hot and sour soup, there's a reason why I live with 11 carnivor (5 cats and 6 ferrets) I know my steak has been safely tucked away with my name on it. LRC, I thought everyone from Ft. Mac just ate fish eggs with angel dust sprinkled on it??? As for us making tracks early from Calgary, we've got one more driver with us so we'll try to leave as early as possible. Now if we were taking my little ///M POWERED Tofu burner, I'd have someone with binos looking over my shoulder at oncoming traffic giving me detailed reports of the rapidly approaching future but since we're driving something that can actually care four people and gear, that's not going to be the case.

Jerri, I'll make sure to have your cell number with me so as we get close I can let you know how far out we are.

Cheers,

T

Will send you guys a PM on the directions to the site.

Here is a GoogleEarth pic of the site. Thanks to General Ripper for editing it and putting the distances on it.

By my range finder the middle areas should read 1000 (Gopher) and 1100yds.

See you all shortly.

Jerry

This should get the LR juices flowing. Went out to confirm all was well from the extreme range location and to try some shots myself.

Here is a pic of '1mile' hillside. The open patch on the leftside is where the bullets go into (sorry, no clue how to photo edit and add arrows and stuff).

Here is my 6.5 Mystic pointing at the hillside.

The new scope base allowed me to reach out to a GPS range of 2210m (2415yds). If not for the stupid winds again, those 139gr Lapua are doing very well at that distance. Ran out of up....

You should be able to reach out to at least 2600m/2840yds from this location.

Got to load up more ammo...

Still loading up more ammo I used up more than anticipated on the weekend :) I made it out on Saturday and doing ok @ 900 yds with 50 MOA left in the scope plus the reticle (hoping for a mile). Woohoo

On the weekend, Yes. On Friday, we will go from the hillside 'behind' the flat.

Please confirm if you both can make it Friday 1pm as originally planned for some really long range shooting.

Everyone keep doing that sun dance. Seems to be working. Today, the wet system was still hitting the hills. Hopefully, it moves on as predicted and we get the high pressure lull behind it.

That would be sweet!!!!!

Well, some excitement. Fortis the power company is doing some major work in Summerland this weekend.

ALL power is going down from 6am to noon on Sunday. This will affect all restaurants, motels/hotels, stores and gas stations.

So before dinner on Saturday, stock up on food and drink for a cold breakfast Sunday morning. Also, tank up gas. The food stores close at 6pm.

We should all be heading to the restaurant by 5:30ish.

What a pain as Tim's will be closed too - don't expect any rioting but look out if its still down at 12:01pm.

Guess I'll buy some of those cold coffees for Sunday morning. See you all bright eyed and bushy tailed Saturday morning at the school. I'm going to need a ride up unless my 2WD toyota pickup can make it. I won't have too much gear... :D

Oh, Oh! Maybe that's why Fozzy was in a bad mood today, I wonder if he read this post.

SteveBC, your toyota will make it up no problem. It's more ground clearance and roughness that would hurt a car or van.

Yes, hearing the news on Tim's going down was shocking.

Hopefully, no one will go postal//////

Jerry

PS PHM, you should be coming out. It's fun times....
