Thanks but no thanks. we will have plenty of gongs to hammer and the tanks do leave a bit of shrapnel (or maybe it was from other stuff we were shooting).
Also concerned abour the round shape allowing for deflections. Let's just stick to flat gong, clays and stumps.
Everyone get your menu items chosen and to confirm you will be attending dinner. If you are bringing a guest(s), let me know so we can adjust the seating in the restaurant.
The weather is warming up, the snow is melting and the ground will dry up quickly. Should be nice and dry by the weekend.
Well, looks like the snow has finally melted and the area is drying up fast.
The dinner has been booked. Meal choices are listed on page 4 post #39
Arrival is 5:30pm on Saturday night at the Sumac Ridge Golf Course Restaurant. Head north on the highway like you are going to Kelowna. About 1.5km from the last light (end of the long flat), you will see signs for the Sumac ridge winery and golf course on your RHS.
Take the middle road once you turn off the highway.
You have gone too far if the highway bends to the left and heads downhill.
See you all next weekend and have a fantastic Easter.
So, i went into work yesterday and made 4 more 10" gongs as well as the mounting hardware for them. So, now all we need is some 2x4s to set them up with. I have a bunch at work but they are nailed together. We will see what kind of shape the original 6 will be in at the end of the shoot on sunday and people can stake claims to them if they would like. I made those other 4 for people to take home with them if they want. As well as some brackets for the frames too. Maybe give it to someone as a prize in a little mini shootoff or something. The brackets are made from 16ga Galvanized so you never have to worry about them rusting. Same with the aircraft cable on the gongs. The last picture is jsut a condensed version of one setup. i couldnt find a longer 2x4 at the house.
I did the math and figured out that with 20moa in the rings and 25moa in the base I should be 16" high at 100yds on bottom with 80moa elevation to play with. Tested this actual shooting and Im "0" at 100yds 7moa up from bottom. Go figure eh? Why'd I even bother with math class when I could have taken cooking where all the girls were.
Ive got 100rds loaded and from a 300WM that should about do me.
I for one sure do appreciate the work others are doing making these reactive targets because once my little car is loaded with shooting and camping gear theres no room left. Figure on getting to Summerland about 3ish Friday then bug Jerry to run me and my gear up to ground zero.
Getting ready for the road move. Packet brief will be issued Friday morning. Will marshal vehicles shortly after. No requirement for tac signs or halt points.
(getting pretty excited!!!)
Convoy will NOT be cruising at 70 KMH!!!
My only triple R's will be Really long pee breaks. Really big snacks and Rolling hard and fast to BC.
Note to all. Stay out of the way of my Dodge. It's big, it's old and it's fast!!!!
