How about this. The charter of rights clearly forbids this and gives us all religous freedom, or the freedom not to be religous.
What kind of gov't has laws on their books that are clearly infringe on our charter rights and depend on the fact nobody will hire a lawyer to fight it ?
Saskatchewan had a ban on Sunday hunting for probably 75 years.
When I used to go back there in the fall for goose and duck hunting, I had some good arguments with the conservation officers about it.
Their argument was that religon had nothing to do with it, but they had really stupid reasoning for preventing Sunday hunting. They claimed if geese were shot at every day, they would leave the area! I didn't think geese could count to six, then say, "Goody, goody, we won't get shot at tomorrow!"
However, big game hunting was also six days a week, but I think that gradually changed, before they moved into full Sunday hunting.
In short, there is no reasonable reason that Sunday hunting should be banned, but I think the powers to be had too much ego to admit they were in error for a lifetime.
